_ _ _ _ _ I went [D] to London to make this record, or at least started off, and had got in touch with
[B] Mark Wallace, _ _ [F#] a producer I liked.
He also [C] worked with the Go-Betweens.
I went over by
myself and just camped in London for a month and went down to the studio in South London
every day [F#] _ with Mark and the programmer, and we sort of built the song.
I'd written the
songs, [C] but we sort of _ [E] built them up.
It wasn't like we had a band playing these songs.
We
sort of started off _ [F] with [D#] the beats, and then I would [D] play and sing it.
Then we would add
stuff around it.
[F#] Some of the tracks came back to Australia and some [F] more stuff at home,
and also [E] did a couple of tracks with Mick Harvey.
So again, this is [G] fairly a record
across [D#] two continents and [G#]
with a sort of [Fm] rather large cast of people [F#] playing on it.
Spencer's on the record again, _ _ [F] and Mick Harvey actually played on a track [F#] or two.
Mick and Linda helped out with some vocals.
Some of the songs were brought [F] back and they
did some vocals on [F#m] them.
_ _ [F] Peter and [E] Steve again. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

We took the photo for the cover [Em]
just down the road in Elwood, Elwood Canal, which I
still ride past quite a lot.
There's a lot of songs on this record that are in my set
a lot.
Like, If I Could Start Today Again, [B] _ _
[Em] Midnight Rain, _ [D#] Close My Eyes, [E] and Pretty Place.
_ _ We also did Love Is The Law, which featured [B] Vic Runga on [F] the vocal and [E] the bridge of the
song.
I have fond memories of making this record, and the songs are still good companions for me. _ _ _ _ _ _
