_ Hey guys, Dave Stone here and welcome.
Old friend by the Allman Brothers.
Got some really mouth-watering slide guitar going on between Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks.
And I really got into it.
So, [Bb] I'm just going to go through the intro, which I think is pretty [A] amazing.
And [B] I'll start off with the first Derek Trucks wick.
[B] And go through [Bb] the rest of them on different videos with Warren Haynes [A] and the rest of Trucks and stuff.
So, we're in the open D tuning.
[D] So, D, A, [Gb] D, F sharp, [D] A, D.
So, I'll just play the first lick, the first Trucks lick at full speed and then break it down.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ So, it starts off with the three octaves on the Ds.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ Then after that on the high A string, slides from the third fret to the fifth. _ _ _ _
_ Hit that a couple of times and then go back down from the fifth to the third and then blow off from there.
_ _ _ _ _ _ Then after that, [E] it goes, hits the open A, then to the third fret.
And then back to the fourth. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ Slides from the [G] fifth down to the third.
And as I'm pulling off from the third, I give it a bit of a nudge.
Just to give it a bit more guts and character, you know. _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _ [A] _
And [N] I go from the fourth string, the fourth D string, slide from the fifth fret to the seventh.
Give it a bit of vibrato.
_ [A] _ _
[G] _ _ Dig in a little bit.
Then I go from the fifth down to the third.
As I'm pulling off there, same thing as the top A string, _ [B] I give it a bit of a nudge as well.
So, in the beginning you can play along.
[D] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
_ [A] _ _ [G] _ _ So, after that, then we slide from the third fret to the fifth on the middle D. _ _
_ [D] From the beginning. _ _ _ _ _
[A] _ _ _ _ [G] _ Then after we've done this bit, we slide up to the seventh.
_ _ [D] _
It just happens really quickly, so it's like_ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ Then we go back down to the fifth fret on the D string and then we hit that once and then we hit the A string on the fifth fret twice and that's it. _ _
_ _ So, from the very beginning slowly. _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ [N] _ That's the lick.
So I hope you've enjoyed that.
