[N] All right everyone, welcome to the first ever Old Head Reacts.
First off, I want to thank everyone for sending me your song suggestions.
I'm super stoked that I got such a good response so quickly.
And if you're just watching this for the first time and didn't see the last video, I will
be doing a series of videos where I'm reacting to rock or metal songs that I've never heard
before or that I didn't really give a good fair shot to in the past.
So please feel free to send me any suggestions you have.
It's more likely that I won't know things that were made around, you know, 2000 until
now, but give it your best shot.
So today I will be reacting to the very first suggestion I received, and that was from B-Side
Records on YouTube.
And they requested that I react to the new song by The Darkness called Rock and Roll
Deserves to Die.
This song is off their upcoming album called Easter Is Cancelled.
Now I do know The Darkness.
I was into their first album, but for some reason I fell off big time after that.
I guess I kind of felt they were a little bit novelty.
I don't really know.
But either way, this is something that I've never heard.
So you know what?
Let's just fucking do this.
Going down a hallway.
[A]
[Am] Little acoustic beginning.
[A] Nice.
[Am]
[A]
[Am] [Dm] [A] [E]
[A] Just [Em] up [Am] in the Emperor's old clothes.
[Dm] [E] And a balloon.
There's that falsetto.
Had a thread.
[Am]
Make it with your empty heart and trust.
[Dm] You [E] will wish that you were dead.
[F] You fooled us all.
This [Am] is a very [Em] long build [D] up here.
[Am] Will there be a payoff?
[F] Let's see.
You'll surely [E] hate me.
[A] Rock and roll, your time has finally come.
I am [Am] afraid you must die.
[G] [Am] Rock
[A] and roll, your time has finally come.
I am afraid you must [Am] die.
[D] I am afraid [C] you must die.
[A]
I am afraid you must die.
[G]
[D] [Am] [G] [D] [C] [A] [G]
[D] [F] [D] Rock and [G] roll deserves to [A] die.
[G]
[D] Some [Am] good Queen [G] operatic vocal [D] shit going on [C] there.
[A] [G]
[D] [Db] [F] [D] Rock and [G] roll deserves [E] [Em]
[F] [A]
[Am] to die.
This is [A] kind [E] of a different style of [A] song than what I was used to for them in the [E] past.
[Am] Obviously, I didn't hear their last few albums, so you [C] know.
[F] [Dm]
[E] In the overstorm.
[Am] Charlatans old tattoos and no scars.
[Dm]
No!
[E] To perform.
[F] You will lose your head.
[Em] Judgment is ours.
I do [Am] like the fact that they chose this song that has a whole lot of sort of downtime in it to be a single.
It seems like today, singles need to be all like [E] punchy in your face and over [Am] quick, you know.
[G] Good for them.
[F] [Am]
Oh [G] [F]
[Am] [G] [F]
[Am] [G] yeah, [C] turn all that shit [D] up.
[A] [G] [D] [C] [A]
[G] [C] [A] [G] [D] [F] [D]
[G] [Am] [Cm] [D] [Am]
[G] [D] [F] [D] Rock and roll [G] deserves [E] to die.
[F]
[G] [Ab] [A]
[Ab] Here's where our killer riff should kick in.
That middle eight, you know.
[A] [D]
[Ab] [Ebm] [D]
[Am] [A]
[Ab] [F]
[A] Definitely a very entertaining video, I'll give it that.
Put a giant marshal into the fucking video.
How more rock and roll can you get?
[Am]
[A]
[Am] [A]
[Bb] [Am] [E] [Gb] [E] [Gb]
[E] Let's keep that butt shot going on for as long as we can.
[Gbm] [N] Alright, so my thoughts.
First of all, there's still that element to this band where I don't think they're serious about their music.
It seems like it's supposed to be more of a joke.
Which kind of rubs me the wrong way because I am one of those diehard rock and roll and metal fans that feels like the genre needs to be taken seriously, especially these days.
But that being said, it was a fun song.
They're obviously great musicians.
Home Dude's a great singer.
It's good.
It's just, I don't know if I will go back and listen to this song on its own.
I might check out some more of the album and see how this song fits in with the other stuff they got going on.
But that really does seem kind of like a video that you just sort of see and kind of smile and chuckle at and then you move on with your day.
But that being said, compared to a lot of things I see these days, I like that there was so much work put into the fucking video.
Because I'm one of those old dudes that I enjoyed watching MTV all the fucking time.
And I loved the videos where they tried to make these mini movies and shit.
So, yeah, a high production value in a music video goes a long way with me.
But, you know, the song itself is good.
I'm not going to keep going on and on.
It was okay.
I enjoyed it.
Am I going to go listen to it again?
Probably not.
Anyway, so, hey, that's the first ever Old Head Reacts.
Let me know what you thought.
Put some suggestions down there in the comments.
And also put your comments on The Darkness and on this song.
Yeah, let's keep a convo going.
Anyway, thank you all very much.
Please, please, please keep the suggestions coming.
And I'll see you guys again on the next video.
Bye.
