Start Jamming...
Now we're going to turn to that reunion we've been waiting for.
After 30 years, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John are making music together again.
And they sat down with Amy Robeck last week before the tragedy in Newtown
to talk about two causes close to their hearts.
[C]
[Dm]
[Cm] Three decades after their last duet, [F] John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John
are [G] back with a brand new holiday album, [F] This Christmas, [G] that's all for a good [N] cause.
Thank you both for being with us.
You're welcome.
Happy holidays.
Happy holidays.
So, John, I understand that this whole idea came about last Christmas
when Olivia sent you a text.
We could dramatize it for you if you want. Would you?
[Em] Congratulations, John.
You're the one that I want.
It's just been voted the [F] most popular duet of all time.
Guess what, kids?
[C] Honey, you're the one that I want.
Biggest [F] duet in history.
[Cm] I'm going to congratulate her back.
[N] Hey, why don't I do a duet with Olivia?
Wow, great idea.
Wish I'd thought of that.
That's awesome.
Then jump to three weeks later.
Why don't we do a whole album?
That's a fantastic idea.
And let's do it for our charities.
Let's do it.
I love that.
It was like Twitter theater all over.
So tell me about the song, because this is an original Christmas song.
People do Christmas albums [D] all the time.
Yes.
But they don't have a brand new song.
Well, John Farrow, who wrote You're the One that I Want from Greece,
[G] wrote this as a [A] favor to us for his contribution to the album,
which is I Think You Might Like It.
I think you might like it.
How does it go?
I think you [E] might like it.
[A]
I think I like it.
I like it.
So we [B] mentioned that this was all for a good cause.
And, Olivia, I know that you're giving your part of the proceeds to your cancer research center.
And, John, this was for your son, Jet.
Yes.
And this has obviously got to be a tough time [E] of year for you and your family.
It always, every day is a tough time when you lose a child.
So this is a way that you help solve some of that angst, you know.
And I think it's the same for Olivia.
When you have a bigger purpose, it helps soothe [F] that, you know.
But there's not a moment of the day I don't think about my son.
[B] And so, Olivia, we know you're a breast cancer thriver.
Yes.
And Robin's obviously dealing with her own struggles.
Would you like to [G] say something to her?
I'd love to.
I'd like to send my [A] love to you, Robin.
I'm thinking about you.
I know you're going to be fine.
And I'm sending lots of love and light to you.
She's growing [B] stronger every day, and I'm sure she'll appreciate [Em] that.
Thank you.
What was it like on the [A] set, filming Grease?
[Bm] People [A] talk about the chemistry that you two [E] had.
It was [D] so many years ago, and it's still there.
Yes.
[N] Look at that chemistry.
Oh, my gosh.
It's pretty rare to see something like this, though.
Well, we had [B] an amazing experience making that movie.
It was incredible.
And we're both so grateful that people still love that film,
and they're still discovering it.
They ask us if we're together all the time.
What happens to Sandy and Danny?
Do they live happily ever after?
I don't know.
I would say he [F] might have been a mechanic.
Fuel injection, cut off and chrome [Cm]-plated rods, oh, yeah.
[E] You know, a really good one or something.
She might [N] have been a beautician.
But they would have been married and had lots of kids.
Manicure.
Yes, I think they would have had lots of kids.
Manicure.
I think I would have definitely had a gut.
I think I would have still had the greaser hair.
And so you agreed, I think, I understand, to play a little round of rapid fire here on GMA.
All right.
My guilty pleasure is blank.
You know, the problem is I don't have any guilt over any of my pleasures.
I like cupcakes and, you know, all the good.
No, I don't have any guilty pleasures.
That's tremendous.
Can you teach me how to do that?
Sure.
Yeah, chocolate probably, yeah.
Because girls always have guilt.
There's no way around that.
People might be surprised to learn I'm really good at blank.
Scrabble.
I'm really good at Scrabble.
Without the help from the
Do you want to play?
Yeah, I'll play.
Do you want to do the Yeah.
Just give it there.
I love Scrabble.
Let's do it.
You can do it on word game.
Yes, yes.
I do it all the time.
Oh, gosh.
I'll kick your ass.
Reasonable at [Bm] tennis.
Tennis, very good.
Me too.
The toughest part about getting older is blank.
Not sleeping as well.
[E] Get up at 5 a.m.?
Well, I go to bed at 5 a.m.,. but I don't stay asleep long enough. That's probably the toughest part. Oh, wow. I'm liking it. I'm loving it. I'm the happiest [Bm] I've been. And you two have always just been friends, huh? [E] Yes. With overtones of other things. Well, it is a remarkable friendship to witness and to see. John Travolta, Olivia [A] Newton-John, thank you both so much. Welcome. Thank you.
