One Direction - Made In The A.M. Track-by-track (Part 2) chords
Start Jamming...
[Dbm] Set your arms wide [Gb] open
[B] Down came the lightning [Abm] on me
Love can be [Dbm] frightening for [Gb] sure
[B] At the end of the day
Is you want what you want
Then you say what you say
Then you find your heart
Even though it'll break [Eb] sometime
[B] End of the day, so I remember the first time
You [E] played as End of the Day
And straight [B] away that chorus just gets you
And just for the [B] whole sound of the song
The fact that you're listening to it
And it does keep you on your toes
And it is [E] interesting to listen to
So yeah, I think just the [B] way that
When you're [Ebm] listening to it
And you're like, okay, this is cool
And then the chorus comes in
And goes into [Gb] the half time
And you're like, okay, [B] this has become
Something else now
And it feels more interesting to listen to
That hook is really simple
But it just sticks in your head So yeah
[Dm] Pay [Bb] attention, I hope that you [F] listen
Cause [C] I let my guard [Dm] down
Right now [Bb] I'm completely [F] defenseless
[C]
For your [Bb] eyes [F] only
[C] I show you my [Dm]
heart
But when [Bb] you're [F] lonely
[C] Forget who [Dm] you are
I'm [Bb] missing half [F] of me
[A] When we're [Dm] apart
Now [Bb] you know [F] me
For your eyes only
For [C] your eyes only
[F] I think what was great about this album [Bb] was
[G] Was that we set [C] aside the time to start it
[F] Obviously the last couple of albums
The whole thing was done on the road
[G] Whereas this time it was like
We [C] set aside a couple of months
To [Dm] obviously write and [F] focus on
What we wanted to make
[C] The coolest thing [G] that happened this time
Is that [Bb] we had time to [F] like sit
And really [C] think about what it was
That we wanted to do
[F] And it gave [C] us a chance to focus [Dm] on
Just writing good songs that we [F] like
And that we wanted to listen [C] to
[Dm] And I think that's hopefully
What other people want [F] to listen to
It wasn't about
You know, we need a chorus [Dm] that goes
Boom, boom, ha!
[F] It wasn't that
It was just we wanted to write
Nice songs that we think people like
And that we like
And [F] I know that [C] we definitely feel
Like we've done [F] that
And we're extremely proud of
[Bb] The album that we've [F] finished with
Let's talk about If I Could [Dm] Fly
I've been working with Johan [F] for a little bit
We did a couple of songs together
[Db] Such as?
We did [D] a song for Ariana [F] Grande
[Dbm] And we did a lot
He's like a really good [F] piano player
He's just really good [C] at it
So it's quite natural to just sit with him
At a piano and start playing
It was another one that kind of just
[E] Kind of fell down
It felt quite [D] natural to sing it
And obviously if you get a cool melody With instruments
[F] You kind of decide whether [Gb] it's better
To follow it or not
[Dm] Sometimes it's really cool
And sometimes it's better to
[Gb] Leave that as an instrumental melody
[F] Can [Bb] you fly?
[F] No, [F] no
Usually me [E] and Louis
Had written a lot in the past
But everybody kind of joined in
At this stage, which is cool
I think we all bring our own influences anyway
But then going off to the different places
We did to write
Whereas me and Louis kind of went off together
Yeah, [Db] it's interesting to hear
What comes back
[E] Particularly from Harry a lot of the time actually
It's quite cool
Because [C] he goes out and writes
With some really sick people
[G] I know you're returning now
It's just too late to turn [F] Around
[G] I tried to forgive you
But I struggle
Cause I don't [F] know how
[C] [G] We built it up so high
And now I'm falling
It's a long [C] way down
It's a long way down From [F] here
Long way [D] down
Love Long Way Down
Such a great song
It's a clever, clever tune
[C] And it's quite Oasis-y
And quite Robbie Williams
Makes me think [F] of the 90s
[G] To me, [C] I think it's kind of the
Idea [D] of being like
[G] I don't know
It can relate to many, many things
Actually, it relates to the band quite a lot
Even [F] though it's quite sad
[C] It's what, I suppose
[G] You know, being at the top for so long
And then going [G] away from it
It's a huge, [C] huge come down
Which is going to be interesting
[F] For the next couple years for us
How we're all going to deal with it
Which is [C] super interesting
But then, [G] in a way, it's like a relationship
That you really wanted to work
But just hasn't quite fit together yet
[F] And, you know, after [C] a couple years
Worth of being together
It's hard to kind of break away from that, [Em] I guess
[G] And at [Em] the end of the song
I like the bit where it says
It's a long way down
So it builds up
Which is really interesting in [C] the pre
When we built it up [F] so high
And then it's a long way down
And then the melody
Right at the end [D] of the song Goes down
Right from where it is
It's like having a mountain
Just [F] going slowly [Em] down
And I like that
I think it's clever writing [C] Cool
I loved recording
A Long Way Down
[Gm] Because I remember
Being in the studio really late
[Ab] In London
And John was going
You need to get grittier
You need to get grittier
[G] You need to sound like Bruce
You need to sound like the boss
I was going like [N] deep
He made a fire
He kept telling me I sounded like Bruce Springsteen
I was like, yes!
And that's why it's really memorable
Because I probably don't sound like him at all
Obviously I don't
But I thought I did
[D] So good [C] I forget my name
I swear [Em] I could give [C] you everything
[C] You can take it
You can [A] take it and take it and love [Em] me
You can break it
[A] You can break it and break it
I [Em] just can't give too [C] much of you baby
[A] It's never, it's never [Em] enough
[C] Never enough
[A] It's never enough
[Em] Never [A] enough
[Em] [C] [Bm] [A]
[Em] My favorite [A] song is Never Enough
I [G] don't know
There's something [D] about it that
The minute I [C] heard it
There's just something about it
I think it's that
It's just the way it [G] starts
You know the bap [A] and bap and boom boom
And then when we were in Chicago
[Em] And the guys came down
Those session musicians came [D] down
And recorded the trumpet [Em] and the
Was it trombone?
[C] Yeah
Trumpet and trombone
[A] Sax
And did [Ab] the
[G]
The
That [A] part on it
And now that starts [D] the song
And I just remember being in the room
[Em] Listening to it
As a [A] part
But just everything about it
We've never done that style of music before
[A] That kind of you know
That boom bap bap boom bap
Just that
And all that
We've never done any of that before
We were dancing around like crazy in the end
We always used to just [Gb] play at parties
And stuff like that
And see what people thought And then
Yeah it kind of
I just loved it
I don't even know why I like it
It's just like everything about it
Is just spot on for me
