It was a 50's Buick, I remember seeing that for sure.
It's super rare and features some different things than you generally see on a [Bb] style 5.
For example, the cone ring is engraved in style [B] 6 and it's [N] a high profile ring.
It's high profile lightweight.
High profile lightweight ring.
And also features the ice cream cone Florentine peg head overlay.
What we were talking about a minute ago, Gibson, they would do anything you ask for.
If his dad asked for that, that's what he got.
Two optional inlays in it as well.
And I believe 15 is just a different tip.
You don't see this or this on a typical style 5.
And just a great banjo for sure to get to see and to share with you guys.
That's a Kirshner's, Phil.
[C] And as you can see, the majority of the [B] Kirshners that you'll find today,
instead of four holes, it's got five.
That's an original five frame tailpiece.
I also got the patent date on the back.
We'll look at some of those tomorrow when we get around the case.
I've got a showcase full of nothing but original pre-war parts.
[N] People ask me all the time, how can you tell if that tailpiece is original?
When you deal with them on a daily basis, I can just about look across the room and tell you.
But it's something I can't really tell you.
The replica in the end and the original.
I've got replacement steel hooks on it.
I've got all the originals in the case.
Reason being, the majority were made out of brass during that period.
They made the hooks out of brass.

You've got your original friction bag on there.
They didn't have gears.

Original frets, the long turn nut.
See [C] all the wood marquetry inlaid in the back of the peg.
