Jam Along & Learn...
Hey, it's Pat Barrett here at the CCM Cafe and I'm going to share a song, Build My Life,
with you.
This song for me is so special because it's one of those songs in my life that took, it
feels like years and years to write.
And different pieces and parts of it came at different times.
And I think I appreciate that now in my life because anything about, anything that acknowledges
that everything doesn't happen at once and immediately and quickly reminds me of what
it means to just be on a journey with God and myself and to grow and learn.
So I think about this song weirdly as metaphor for my life in a lot of ways.
The bridge happened first and then a couple years later, I was with some friends in Scotland
and we wrote the chorus in the living room of a pastor's house there.
And it's just amazing, not just with that song but with my life, when I think about
what I've built my peace on, my hope on, my joy on.
And there are very few things in life that can hold the weight and the, you know, the
pressure of the unknowns of life.
And this song for me has just been one of those really encouraging things because it
continually reminds me to not just lift my eyes in worship but to also lower them and
check my footing and reexamine at times where I've put, you know, where I'm standing.
And if life starts to shake at any moment, if your job changes or you lose it or you
move cities or you go through something tragic and life feels like it starts to shake, I
always hear that as an invitation from God to just look down and to see where you're standing.
So this song has done that for me so many times and I hope [G] it does the same for you.
Worthy of every song we could ever sing.
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring.
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe.
We live for you.
Oh, we live for you, Jesus.
Jesus, the name above every [C] other name.
Jesus, the only one who could ever say.
Worthy of every [C] breath we could ever breathe.
We live [G] for you.
Oh, [G] we live for you.
We sing holy.
There is [Am] no one like you.
There is [D] none beside you.
Open up [Em] my eyes in wonder.
[C] Show me who you [Am] are and fill me with [G] your heart and lead me in your [Em] love to those around [G] me.
Jesus, the name above every other name.
Jesus, the [C] only one who could ever say.
[G]
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe.
We live for you.
Oh, we live for you.
And we [C] sing holy.
There is [Am] no one like you.
There is [D] none beside you.
Open up [Em] my eyes in wonder.
[C]
Show me who you [Am] are and fill me with your [D] heart and lead me in your [Em] love to those around [C] me.
Oh, I want to walk [Em] with you.
[G]
[C] Oh, I will build [D] my life upon [Em] your love.
It is a [G] firm foundation.
[C]
I will put [D] my trust in you [Em] alone.
And I [G] will not be shaken.
[C] I will build [D] my life upon [Em] your love.
It [G] is a firm foundation.
[C] I will put [D]
my trust in you [Em] alone.
And I [G] will not be [C] shaken.
Oh, there is no [Am] one like you.
There is [D] none beside you.
Open [Em] up my eyes in [G] wonder.
Show who you [Am] are and fill me with your [G] heart and lead me in your [Em] love to those around me.
[C] I grew up in a church that made me always think about this really old familiar hymn.
[G] On Christ the solid [C] rock I stand.
[Em] All other ground [D] is sinking [G] sand.
All [C] other ground [D] is [G] sinking sand.
[G] On Christ the solid [C] rock I stand.
[Em] All other ground [D] is sinking sand.
[G] All other [C] ground is [Em] sinking sand.
[G] All [C] other ground [D] is sinking sand.
