Pat Benatar is back.
Here's her new CD called Gravity's Rainbow.
Since her debut album in 1979, she's proved she's one of the hardest rocking ladies in the music industry.
With the release of this new Gravity's Rainbow, she's back and with a vengeance.
Here's the great Pat Benatar.
[Bb]
[G]
Hiya Pat.
Oh, you've just filled in my leg, well.
Have [Dm] a seat, Pat.
[N] This is a new look for you, Pat.
I remember you used to wear your hair very, very short and almost pixie-ish.
It's adorable that way too.
Like a little 16-year-old.
That's right.
Cute.
Pat, tell me the truth.
You saw me play the piano.
You heard you're a musician.
Didn't I have a little bit of sensitivity, a little feeling, a little depth to my music?
Yes, definitely.
[G] Can I join your band?
Sure.
Spider, that's okay, right?
Nice to meet you.
This, I think, is your first time on our show.
[Abm] And, boy, you're getting rave reviews with this new album.
Yeah, thanks.
Does that still feel good after all these [G] years?
Oh, yeah, it's great.
That never changes.
It's always nice to be acknowledged.
Was it tough to come up with the next one, this one?
Yeah, this is a little hard.
We did a blues record a couple of years ago, and we really didn't know where we were at.
We just went in to write songs, and it kind of ended up there.
Very good.
You have an 8-year-old daughter, Kayla.
She's probably watching us.
Is she a music lover, too, Pat?
Yeah.
Do you think she's going to follow in your footsteps?
She doesn't practice, though.
No?
You see that little girl practicing five hours.
I know.
That's impressive, isn't it?
And you're the only one who tells your daughter to turn up the volume, huh?
Yes.
Especially when you're singing.
Well, she's so conservative.
I guess your age has been mentioned with this album as sort of a milestone in everybody's life.
Does that bother you at all when they start?
No, we never thought we'd live this long.
We're happy.
The big four, All-Marc.
Can you believe she's nearly this old?
It must be
[Bb]
You've moved, of course.
You're out west now.
You live in Malibu.
That's probably what agrees with you, huh?
Yeah, it's that sea air, you know.
[Eb] But originally from Lyndon Hearst, New Jersey.
New [D] York, Long Island.
Long Island, yes.
Was [N] that where your music career began?
Yeah, I did classical music in theater.
It was just a little town.
There wasn't a lot of rock and roll stuff going on there, so I didn't get turned on to that.
I mean, you know, just as a listener, but not as a performer.
And what was your instrument?
Guitar?
No, I don't play.
You don't play at all?
No, that's why I said you did very well.
Oh, I see.
You don't play and you don't read music?
No, that's why I married my husband, because he got the guitar.
[Ab] [B] And he, of course, is a member of the band.
Yes.
Difficult traveling, touring, working with your husband like that?
No, that's how we met.
So, no, I mean, maybe for him, I don't know.
No, actually, it's actually great.
You always know where everybody is all the time.
You're all together.
[A]
Good.
When [N] we return, Pat's going to sing for us.
Stay with us.
