Hey, what's up you guys?
Marty Schwartz here from GuitarJams.com.
Got a really fun classic country progression for you.
Always good to know it.
Also, I'm doing a little sale on my Country Licks DVD
that's taught by my good friend and mentor Bob Ryan.
Got a DVD set of his in that link below.
And I'm gonna pick three comments
to win that DVD set for free.
All you gotta do is leave a comment
and I'm gonna pick three comments
from three different people and they will win that set.
But let's zoom in and do this lesson right now.
I think you're gonna like it.
Here we go.
All right, so we got the capo on the third fret.
One, two, three.
All right.
And I simplified a few things
because it could be kind of more of a complex jazz situation.
So anyway, hang tight.
Here we go.
We got a G chord.
And then we're gonna go [D] to E7.
[F] Second fret, open D, [G] first fret on the G.
[Bb] So G, G.
[G] E7, then A [C] minor.
[Cm] So you see that A minor chord?
Okay, then we need a D7.
Index finger stays.
And then second fret there, second fret there.
That's a [F] D7.
[D] [Cm]
[F] [Bb] [Gm] Okay, so that's the first section.
Check it out.
I'm gonna say the chords again.
And then there's one fancy chord in there that you saw.
[F]
[Gb] But you can play an [G] E7 and survive with that chord.
It's basically a G sharp diminished chord
is what you're gonna call it.
You can play an E7 and you're gonna survive.
You can add these [Eb] notes, which will make it more jazzy.
But the E7's still in there and it looks like this.
It's that second fret right there.
[Bb] [Abm] Third fret on the D string with your ring [Ab] finger.
Index finger, first fret, you know,
where it is for that [F] E7.
And then pinky on the third fret of the B.
So we can call that G sharp diminished.
[Bb] The high E's muted.
Okay, so check it out.
So we got [Bb] G chord, [G] E7,
then [Cm] A minor stays there.
Then [F] D7, D7.
And then back to G, [Bb] back to G.
[D] G sharp diminished, [Cm] A minor, [F] D7.
Okay?
You [Cm] can [Eb] always, you know, play that back
if you need more with that.
To [Bb] the G chord.
Now check it out, [C] A7.
Classic country thing right there.
[F] D7.
Okay?
[E] So once again, [Eb] that's a C chord.
C chord, [Bb] then a G chord.
G7 if you're fancy.
D, [C] A7, [C] which you should know,
it's like an A chord,
but with the open G string in there,
[F] to a D7.
[Bb]
[G] [Cm] So then that normal thing, [Abm] you know,
goes back to that first verse that I taught you.
But then a little [Eb] pretty jazzy climb down thing.
Da, [Dm] da, do, da, da.
[Cm] Da, [G] da, do, da, [Cm] da.
Da, da, do, [Bb] da, da.
[Eb] Okay?
So I gotta teach you that.
C major chord [B] to a B minor,
[Dm] which [Gb] is like a whole step up bar.
And then the A minor looking [Dm] shape right there.
[Cm] A minor, [G] E7, [Cm] back to A minor,
[F] D7, [Bb] G, [Eb] D7.
And those are the sections.
So check it out.
From the bridge, a C chord.
C chord.
Ooh-ah, ooh-ah.
Do-wop, do-wop, [Bb] do-wop.
To G.
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do.
G7.
[C] A7.
Do-wop, do-wop, do-wop.
Dip, dip, dip, dip, dip, [F] dip, dip, dip.
Go, go, go, go, go.
Ha, ha, ha.
Right?
Now we go back to the verse thing.
[Bb] G chord.
G chord.
[G] E7, then [Cm] A minor.
Here's that jazzy climb down things with the C chord.
I'm C [Dm] chord, B minor, [Cm] A [G] minor, E7.
[Cm] I'm A [F] minor, D7, [Bb] G.
Ooh-ah, wah, wah.
[Eb] [F]
[Bb] Do, do, do, do.
All right, that was the lesson.
Hope you got something out of it.
Remember, I'm gonna pick three comments
to win that DVD set there in that link below this box.
And thanks again for the support.
We'll see you again real soon.
