Alright well patty now officially congratulations.
That was a wonderful show great to have you back here again
I guess our math is correct your sixth time
[Ab]
So let's talk about your newest album it's your 10th and it's titled simply Patty Griffin
Why did you decide [G] to?
To call it that is [Bb] is it a sort of a statement that you're making at this point in your career?
It didn't start off as a statement.
I [N] and I had another
And I was driving in my car going grocery store and I heard this little
She was coming out with her record and I went oh, well that would be very rude of me to put that out now
So I'm just talking to Craig Ross
[Eb] [B]
[N] You
It's that dumb
That you haven't done it before but nobody [Gb] else can use Patty Griffin.
Yeah
So it's a very intimate [N] album and collection of songs not necessarily personal in an autobiographical sense
But how would you describe it?
It is intimate.
I was right up close to myself
[E] [Eb] [C]
[Db] [Dbm] That tip the whole thing off and
I was learning a lot
[D] Felt [B] like
Right really clearly about
[Db]
[Eb] [D] I'd start off writing about myself and it would end up being about
That's
[N] crazy [G] do [Eb] the set up the tracks for
[N] [E]
[Db] Quickly and I looked at it.
I thought I felt like the record was
[D]
male and [Db] female first house and
[B] The songs are focused on you know, I didn't do it on purpose
And it made [Eb] me notice, you know how
[D]
Yeah, [Eb] I think women right now all over the globe
[E]
[D] [Db] Understand what
[N] [Db]
[E] It's [Eb] tears for me singing
[D] [Eb] It [D]
really is and how
[Eb] And if you're a woman, you know, it's not something [D] I
[E]
Think we [Dbm] have to evolve.
We're [Eb] constantly
[D]
[Ebm] [D] [Eb]
[Eb] You
The [Gb] carrying old machine [F] we're all [Db] responsible for creating
[D]
[Eb] So I'm sort of trying to own
My [B] part in it by just believing
[Bb] We can't go past
[Dbm] War and we can't go past
poverty [Db] and we can't go past
You
[E]
[Eb]
