One, two, three.
[A] Oh, yes.
The Beatles came along in the early 60s, as we all know,
[N] and transformed everything, really.
They altered the planet, really.
Certainly altered my planet, that's for sure.
And then once I saw them, I just wanted to do music.
They made me want to pick up a guitar in the first place.
I first met His Royal Highness in 1981 or 1982, something like that.
I was up at a studio called Air Studios, which was George Martin's studio,
in the centre of London.
[Ab] And the jammer was recording our last album there,
an album called The Gift.
And we were recording in the studio,
and Maka was recording one of his albums at the same time in another studio.
And that was the first time I met him.
I was totally overawed by meeting [Eb] him.
But he was really nice, really sweet, Giza.
And his lovely wife, Linda, as well, she was smashing.
And then some time after that,
we did a charity record together for War Child, about 1995, I think.
Me and Noel Gallagher and Paul McCartney,
we did a version of Come Together, the Beatle tune, for the charity War Child.
We recorded it in one day in Abbey Road Studios No.
2,
which is where the Beatles did pretty much all their work in there, in fact.
So that was pretty far out to be recording a Beatles song in their studio with one of them.
That was a pretty special day for me, really.
And then even [Bb] more recently,
Paul was playing the Teenage Cancer Trust gig at the [G] Royal Albert Hall in Kensington in London.
And [Gb] they asked me if I'd like to introduce him, which obviously I was glad to do.
And I got to play Get Back with him on stage as well, so that was pretty far out as well.
My wife, I don't know how she managed to do it,
but she got Paul to do a little DVD birthday message thing where he played Happy Birthday for me, which was amazing.
So I'm returning the compliment for the big man's 70th birthday this June.
So we've done a version of Birthday, the Beatles [G] song, off the White Album.
[B] And we're going to put it out, I think, just for the one day for the 18th of June, which is Macca's birthday.
And I think at the moment we want to just try and make it available that one day.
I'm not sure how we're going to do it, really.
But we've done a good version of it.
We've put some saxophones on it and tried to make it a little bit kind of like [Eb] Little Richard sort of style.
And yeah, I don't know, hopefully he likes it.
