Start Jamming...
I did some shows with him.
We opened up for Queen, [Gm] we opened up for [G] Linda Ronstadt
and I [N] thought this is the most exciting thing ever because a year before I was
living with my mother and working in a factory.
So and I was older than Vincent
is now.
Vincent and Gareth.
But we went into the studio a few months after I started
playing with him and it wasn't just any studio it was Abbey Road Studio in London.
Most famous studio in the world and [C] I thought well I've arrived.
Hello.
We recorded [Db] an album called Year of the [C] Cat.
[Ab] [B] The song On the Border [G] which you mentioned
which is the first time I've recorded with a nylon string guitar.
I didn't even
have a nylon string guitar.
This is the instrument I play now but I didn't have
one and Al gave one to me in my hand and said play [E] this and for that I will ever
thank him.
Always thank him because it's become my instrument now.
[N]
I'm leading up to something here.
We [C] did a long [Am] tour with Year of the Cat and we
played all over the world.
Very [G] exciting and [B] when it came to time for the next
album he said well do you have any musical [N] ideas that we could write a song
about?
I said well I'm gonna write a song with Al Stewart so we wrote a song
together and when we were in the [Dbm] studio which is once again Abbey Road [N] Studios
he said I want you to play a guitar solo on this song so but we'll do it after we
go to dinner and I said well why don't I stay behind the studio and I'm gonna
work out a solo for this part because I think it's more important than going to
dinner which is probably why you see me in the shape I'm in [B] now.
[A] I could have gone to dinner [N] and not come up with the idea
that I came up with but you'll see what I mean.
They rolled the tape I played the
guitar and this is what came out.
