Hello there awesome students.
Thanks for tuning in.
It's a great way to learn.
I love this
Today I'm going to be sharing with you a popular guitar solo, and it's the theme from Phantom of the Opera
It's in my little green book here that we use it has lots of lots of pop songs in it
And I'm gonna change the camera angle so you can see both hands because it's a finger style solo, so let's get started
Let's see can we see both hands there?
Alrighty then we start off with this little riff
It's a simple power chord you [G#] [F]
[F#] gotta love the simplicity of that
[G#] [F#] [C]
[E] March back up
[B] That's the intro [Em] now the verse
[F#]
[E] [D] [Dm]
[G] [Am]
[Am] [G] Happens twice [Dm] that's nice
[G] [Am]
[F#] [F]
[Gm] Now this is an F [F] chord [A#] if you're a beginner, maybe you [E] don't like that stretch you can play the easy [F] F
[Dm]
[G] power G
[Am]
I like this part
[Dm]
[F#] [Fm] [A] [A#m]
[Am] [F] Notice all we have here is [F#] just this pinching action with the fingers
[D]
[F#] [A]
Pinch [D] pinch pinch pinch [C#] pinch pinch a little [D] chord.
That's a nice chord F and G sharp
[F]
[A] [Gm] [B] [Am]
[G] The riff again, [F]
it's basically the whole song
[G] [E] Which of course is too short
So I've added [F] just a little opportunity for improvisation
[E] What could be easier than E?
[Em]
[D] [Em]
I'd like to take the rhythm of the melody
[E]
[Em] [E]
[F#] [E] [C#m]
[C] [E] [Em]
[F] [D#m] That's weird
[F#] [Em] When you're finished jamming
[D] [Em]
float for a while
[E] This [B]
is called a floating idea which means I don't know what's coming next.
I'm just gonna float
[D] [B]
I'm [C] gonna read the music [G] have [F] some sort of a build-up on F [G] and G
[Gm]
[A] Which is our target and then we can play the riff
[C] And add a little
[G#] [F#] [G]
[F#] [C] [G#] [F]
Gotta [D] have a little fun.
That's why they call it playing one more time on the [F] melody since I goofed up the first time [Em] Oh
[F]
[Em] D [G] minor the added [Dm] pinky then the straight D minor [G] G
[Am]
[Dm] [D] [G] [Am]
the F of your choice easy F the
f6 9
[C]
[B] The F add 9 [C] hard to show
Partial of that [A#] one [G] gee
[Am] It's [D] [Am]
just a scale [A] walking down [A] G F [Am] D [F#] C B A
[Fm] And you want [B] to record that is [F#] that's an e7
[E] flat 9
[B] [E] With a in the bass which sounds like [D] this and that's a classical cliche [Dm] that a lot of people [E] use You
[Am]
[A] [G#] [Gm] [F]
[F#] [G]
[A#] [G] [F] Make up an ending have some fun.
Please be creative use this as a [G] spin-off
