[C] Alright, this is the guitar lesson for Brain Damage by Pink Floyd.
The easy way and the correct way.
Starting off, guitar in standard E tuning.
Okay?
And there is a [G] ton of stuff going on in this song.
[Ab] Multiple guitars, there's synthesizers, all kinds [Eb] of [C] different effects.
[G] It's crazy.
So let's keep it, we'll break it down to the basics, okay?
Don't get overwhelmed by this song.
[N] Alright, so let's make a D.
And what we're going to do is we're going to strum slowly through it.
[D]
Like that.
Okay, so we strum once through it.
And we go, alright, so strum through D and then pluck D, D, G, E.
Okay so, there's two [G] different ways you can pick through this song.
Alright?
There's that way, [D] which is D, D, G, E.
Or, you can mix it up with, which is D and then you hit B and E.
Okay, so we got, let me start over there.
There it is, okay?
[G]
Just gives you a couple different ways to switch it up.
I kind of stick with this throughout the [D] entire time I play.
[G]
Okay?
So, how this song goes is it [D] goes D, D, you do that twice, then we go to, it's like a G7, okay?
You take your [D] pointer finger, put it on the first fret E string and you strum through
the same four strings and do the same [G] plucking pattern.
Back to D, G7, D.
Now we move this all the way up to E, okay?
So it's the D pattern, just [G] shift it up two frets, [E] okay?
So we're on the fifth fret right there and then we're on the fourth fret with our middle
and our pointer finger.
And now we come down to do an A and this A we're barring the second fret, all four strings.
Take your ring finger, put it on the third [A] fret E string, okay?
Back to [D] D.
I strum and play through it once and [B] then I go, so I go E, B, G and I have my middle
finger off, okay?
So I go E, B, B, E, B, B.
So once [Ab] again I'll play through it for you so you can hear it, [D] okay?
[G]
[G]
[D]
[E]
[A]
I had to [G] think about that for a second.
Okay, after that you do [D] a D7, [N] all right?
Which is kind of like a D but backwards, okay?
So it's ring finger on the second fret E string, we got our middle finger on the second fret
G string and our pointer finger on the first fret B string, okay?
[D]
[G] Strum that a little bit and then we go into G.
[A] A.
And [G] on A, what I'll [A] do is I'll strum through it a couple times and then I'll go.
[Am] So I'm going down from, I hold the A and with my [D] right hand I'm plucking [Db] the B, G, D.
Okay, so [C] let me go C.
Dark side of the [D] moon.
Back [G] to G.
So it's G, [A] A, [C] C, [G] G.
Okay?
Not bad.
So,
[A] [C]
[G]
all right, the final part of dark side of the moon or of brain damage I want to show
you is after the chorus, after the.
[A]
[C]
It goes, whoa, whoa, whoa.
So it [Bm] goes B minor [Bm] 7, E [Em] minor 7, then we go A7.
[A] All right, B [G] minor 7 is a B minor, just take your pinky off, [Bm] okay?
Okay?
[G] So actually it might not be a B minor 7 but basically it's a B minor and you take your
[Bm] pinky off, okay?
Now you make an E minor [N] 7 and that's an E minor and then take your ring finger and put
that on the third fret B string.
[Em]
All right, now we make an A7.
[G] Okay, so it's an A, take your [A] middle finger off.
And then we go back into.
[D]
[G] Back into the verse, okay?
Really not a hard song to play, there's so much going on, just make sure to keep it simple,
okay, and keep it fun.
