[Abm] Okay, pipeline guitar solo.
In this video lesson I'm going to go over the guitar solo
that I played in my cover of Pipeline.
The instrumental is [G] in the key [Em] of E minor.
[E]
The
guitar solo follows a [Am] chord pattern and that chord pattern is A minor, [G]
a G major, [F]
an F
[G] major, a G major, [Em] [Am]
A minor again, [G]
a G major, [F]
an F major, [Em] and down to an E minor.
The solo
is really arpeggiated chords [Ab]
and to play the solo basically all you have to do is just
[Em] play the chords.
So, for example, I'll play the first [Am] part.
[G]
[F]
[Em] [G]
[Cm] [Am] Okay, all that is is an A
minor, a G major, [G] an F [F] major, [Am] and then back up to [G] G major, and then [Am] A minor.
So I'm just
basically playing that [E] solo on just these [A] three strings here.
The [D] D string, [B] the G string,
and the B [Em] string.
Just three [Am] strings.
So I'm just adding an extra note there.
It's
a fourth.
[D]
[G] And I'm doing the same thing with the G major and
[C] [Em]
the same thing with an [A] F [F] major.
[Bm]
[A] [D] And you go back up.
[G]
[Am] Okay, [Dm] now on the second round I'm just adding an extra string.
So
I'm playing on the four inner strings here.
The A string, the D string, the G string,
and the [D] B string.
So if you just [E] make an A minor like [Am] this, and then basically you play
the same solo.
[Em] [G] [Am]
[F]
[Em]
So they're all [E] arpeggiated chords.
And what that means is you're just
playing the notes in the chord individually.
[C] So let me play that again, the second round.
[Am]
[G]
[Am] [F]
[Em]
So on the last one [F]
I'm playing this F major.
I'm playing [Em] the bottom [E] four strings.
So I'm
playing the [C] E string, the A string, the D string, and the G [Bb] string.
And [F] you notice that
I'm fretting the low F with my thumb there.
[Am] You know, you [C] can do it this way if you [F] want
to.
[G] [F] [Em] And that's an arpeggio too.
That's just an E minor.
Okay, I'll [C] play it through, slow tempo.
