I'm Lauren Ruth Ward.
I just started singing as a kid, in [Eb] the shower, [Db] in the car, [Cm] just doing kid things, [Bb] singing.
[Eb] [Db]
[C] I [Bb]
was in a band in high school and then a band later on after high school.
Two of them actually.
One of them that actually felt real.
[Ebm] It's been [Db] easy and [C] difficult.
Easy because it [Bb] just feels natural.
[Eb] I enjoy playing [Db] music and sharing [C] my stories.
And [Bb] difficult because I didn't fully believe in myself.
I've been doing hair for seven years and I just give everything [Fm] to that craft
[Ab] and [Eb] nothing to music.
There isn't [Bb] really a lot of music around [Fm] me.
I see [Ab] it.
Sometimes I have to see [Eb] it to believe it.
[Bb] [Fm] Annie
[Ab] [Eb]
[Bb] [Fm] and Nancy Wilson.
[Ab] My sister's a [Eb] really good singer [Bb] and we used to sing when we were younger.
And I always had this dream of her and I being in a band together.
She's a fantastic special education teacher and an amazing mom.
In high school, Mira was really big for me.
Just her songwriting and [Eb] just the wide range of production [Db] that she would just
[C] own any kind of [Bb] genre.
I feel like her [Eb] songs were really [Db] inspiring.
[C] [Bb]
My acoustic guitar because it's how I started.
My tailor.
It was like a big purchase for me.
I was like, just started making some good money [Fm] and I joined this [Ab] band and they [Eb] were like, yeah you need a guitar.
[Bb] Because I had an Yamaha that I had [Fm] since I was 10.
And then [Ab] once I got that guitar I was [Eb] like, oh wow, I'm actually not that [Bb] bad.
Like it was the guitar [Fm] that I was playing.
[Ab] [Eb]
[Bb] [Fm]
[Ab] [Eb] Successfully [Bb]
making [Eb] a living off of my [Bb] music.
[Eb] Yeah.
Doing the damn thing.
[Bb]
[Eb]
[Bb] [Fm]
[Ab] [Eb] Yeah.
Ooh.
[Bb] So many.
[Fm] Everyone.
We're all the [Ab] best, right?
[Eb]
[Bb] I love Liv Slingerland.
[Fm] She's my girl.
[Ab] You are fucking awesome.
[Eb] Kimmy.
I'm talking to [Bb] Kimmy right now.
[Fm] Laura Peters is [Ab] amazing.
I remember the first time I saw [Eb] Laura.
My girlfriend and I were like, [Bb] start with insta and [Fm] we just stumbled upon [Ab] her.
And I was like, who [Eb] is this?
And I was like, her tone is great.
And I [Bb] was like, you are [Fm] a condo.
[Ab]
[Eb]
[Bb] [Fm] Play
[Ab] Like A [Eb] Girl [Bb] means sisterhood to me.
[Fm] And my big [Ab] sister taught me a lot [Eb] about how to be a good human.
[Bb] And being so far from home and living here, I've never experienced a connection like that.
And it's just a bunch of females that are amazing role models and doing their thing.
And I just want to join in and be a part of it.
And it really helped me [Ebm] [Db] just remember that I can do [Cm] it.
Like moving out here and pursuing [Bb] music.
It [Eb] was scary.
But [Db]
[Eb] we're all awesome.
