I'm gonna make a full metal track using only this ukulele bass.
Ah, [A] I'm angry today.
I listen [F] to these metal bands on Spotify and they [Dm] all have the same instruments, [C] you know.
Drums, bass, singer, seven string short scale [Bb] piccolo bass.
It's time to mix things up and [Am] that's why I'm gonna make the first ever metal track
where every single sound you hear is made on this weird instrument.
So naturally the first [C] thing we have to do is turn this ukulele bass into [D] a drum kit.
I already [Am] know how to make kick and snare sounds [B] on this thing.
But this time I'm gonna take things to a whole new level by adding hi-hat [E] and cymbals as well.
So for the closed [D] hi-hat I really need to [Bb] achieve that
[E] No, [A] that type of sound.
And when you think about it when you're [Bb] hitting a hi [A]-hat you're hitting wood on metal.
We've got wood here so maybe hitting it with [Am] metal will create a similar type of [B] sound.
[Ab] All right, there we go.
That's [B] just the closed hi-hat but if you think about a drum beat there's often that [E] kind of
[Dm] That is the [B] open hi-hat.
The open [Am] hi-hat is a longer and more sustained sound so I'm just going to brush the [Ab] surface of the bass.
[Db] [Bbm]
[F] So the only thing we [F] need now are toms [C] and this is going to be interesting.
[Dm] Toms are much lower in [B] pitch and sound quite boomy [F] so let's see what I [B] can do.
[Bbm]
[C] It's okay but I think I'm going to [F] have to pitch [E] shift it to get it sound more like a tom.
[C]
[Eb] [D] All right, so I've made the full drum kit and here's a beat that I [Ab] made.
[C]
[B] And now for the easy part which is actually playing the [A] bass the way that it's supposed to [G] be played.
[D] [G]
[Am] So now that we have drums and bass I want to add some high [G] synth stuff.
This instrument doesn't have much sustain so the obvious way to make a [D] synth pad is just to reverse [Ab] time.
[G]
[Em]
But I also [G] want some of those short and high arpeggiated [C] synth things.
[B] [D]
[Am] I can pitch shift that [A] around into arpeggios.
[C] So we've got [A] drums, bass and synth.
[C] All that we need now is some guitar.
I'm [A] going to do some more pitch shifting and see if I can get this thing [Em] to sound like a lead guitar.
[D] [F]
[Ab] All right, it looks like we've got all the [Cm] instruments now.
It's time to turn it into a [G] song.
[Ab] [Eb] [D]

[Bb] Well that was [D] interesting.
Let me know what you thought of the first ever metal [A] song made
entirely with [B] ukulele bass.
And of course let me know if you have any other [C] challenges for me.
[G] The crazier the better.
And if you're a [A] bassist who wants to improve your skills I just launched
my second channel Bass Camp where I post lessons and tips and [B] I'd love to see you there.
Thank you [A] all so much for watching.
Have a [Am] great day and I'll see you [D] in the next video.
