Playing Violin in Slow Motion chords

Hey, what's up guys?
Today I wanted to show you some simple and advanced violin techniques,
but in slow motion, so you can get an idea of kind of what they look like when everything's
slowed down and you're up close and you can kind of see what's happening when you do different bow
strokes or different techniques with the left hand.
This is not a tutorial on how to play these
certain techniques.
I could do a video on each one of these to tell you more about how to play them,
and you'll see those in the future by the way, but today I was able to get my hands on a high
speed camera and kind of [C] show you some of these techniques in slow motion, so I hope you like it.
This first one is the détaché, it's called a détaché bow stroke, and it's just the most basic.
[D]
[D#m] You go back and forth, it means [D#] separated in French.
So let's take a look and see what that
looks [B] like in the slow-mo camera.
[G] [D#]
[C]
Okay, so the next one I want to show you is a pizzicato.
This
is a pretty simple one, it's one of the first techniques the violinist string players learn,
and it's just pulling the string with your [D] finger.
[Em]
[F#] [G] [B]
So you can either do it with [C] the bow in your hand
like this, or you can [B] actually make a fist [G]
and go a lot quicker this way.
So let's check that out in
the slow [N] motion.
[B]
Okay, so this next one is [C] a left-hand technique, and it's vibrato.
I get a lot
of people asking me about how to do vibrato, and like I said I'll talk about that more later,
but this is essentially the way I like to do it.
I [F#m] use an arm vibrato.
[C#m]
[Gm] [C#m] [G]
[D]
[Cm]
So [B] let's slow that down and give you a look at that.
So this next one is called sauté,
and it's basically a fast spiccato or a really fast détaché
[A]
[N] that you speed up in about the middle of the bow, and you let the bow bounce off the [A] string.
[G] So let's check out what that looks like in slow motion.
This one's cool, I like this.
[B]
So for this last technique, this is a ricochet, and this is where you let the bow
[Dm] bounce on its own.
[G]
So with this, you [G#] mostly let the bow do all the work.
You drop it,
and then you also have some horizontal motion, but again, I could spend a whole video just on
the ricochet, but those are just the simple basics for it, and let's check and see what
the bow is doing in slow motion here.
[N]
Okay, well thanks for watching guys.
I hope you learned
something out of it.
I hope you thought it was kind of cool to see these different strokes and
techniques in slow motion.
I'll have more videos coming up for you soon,
so
