And we're here to tell you about our new project called Letters [Bb] to Bach.
To those [Eb] who say the world [D] is changing [Ab] now,
and as it changes there's [Bb] nowhere to see the other side.
Gil and I [Eb] started touching Bach for the first time many, many years ago
with Ave Maria.
Bach and Gounod together, the first prelude we wrote Ave Maria,
it became a very iconic song for us.
But then we left it for quite a few years,
admired Bach, but [Gb] didn't actually deal with his music.
And then recently, after being invited by a very famous pianist here in Israel,
[F] Astrid Balzan, [Gbm] to participate in [Am] her, I'd say didactic Lecture series.
[Bbm] Yeah, her lecture series, she suggested that I sing Bach,
[Db] but with no lyrics, just sort of da-ba-da.
And [Ab] I said, wow, this is [Fm] just amazing.
But I very [Gb] quickly [Gb] became, you [Bb] know, uninterested in just [Ebm] singing the da-ba-da.
It's been done [Db] before by other vocal groups
[Bbm] and I didn't think that I had anything particular to contribute in that sense.
[Ab] And then I got it into my head [Eb] that I would write lyrics.
And once I started doing that, I became obsessed [Dm] with this process
of writing letters to Bach.
Oh, Mama dear, do not [E] expect me to [D] comply, I'm in [A] the middle of [Dm] a story.
[E] [Gm] Which is letters as, and this was a beautiful [Em] Gil's idea for the name of the [Am] album,
not only the letters which are words,
[C] but also a sort of correspondence over the generations
[F] with this amazing composer.
[G] Because what's amazing about Bach's music is that no matter what,
and this is true for my children, my teenagers as well,
no matter who [G] listens and where and when,
you [C] can't not be [F] amazed and taken, or [Dbm] thrilled, [F] or
It's heart [Em]-wrenching, it's happy, [Bbm] it's incredible,
[Em] and it doesn't matter who you are, where you [Am] live, how old you are.
It's just a magic thing that this composer [F] has.
Many classical composers do, [D] but for me, Bach is something [E] absolutely unique.
[F] I'm taught to think [Bm] that I can tear the [D] world apart.
[Em] Every [Bbm] selfie is a stunning [C] work of art.
Quincy [F] Jones, this amazing man,
we had the privilege of meeting for the first time in 2002 in New York,
and we had an immediate click with this incredible, incredible legendary musician,
which we are so honored to call our friend.
And every time we go to L.A. for concerts or for whatever,
we meet him in his home and talk about music and politics
and all the things that we're interested in.
And so on one of these visits, Gil and I just were, I guess, chutzpah,
we'd say enough to tell him,
look, Quincy, we have this new project, would you be willing to listen to these songs?
And so Gil pulled out his guitar and we performed these little Bach pieces.
He just loved it from the first moment.
He said, I want to produce this.
And I said, yeah, right.
You know, Quincy, you're busy, you've got a lot on your plate.
But it really happened.
After all this time, he invited us to perform in Perugia
in this huge 85th birthday celebration that he had.
And there we performed the Bach.
Just Gil and I in front of these 10,000 people, huge orchestra in the back,
it was just Gil and me doing our little thing, [Bm] our thang, as Quincy says.

[E] [D] [Ab]
[Db] [Gbm]
[E] So I'm honored to say that Quincy Jones is [B] the executive producer of this album.
We're so grateful to him.
[Db] We hope to make him very proud with the album, with the concerts,
with everything that we [Ab] do.
And we absolutely [Abm] love him.

[Gbm] We're instantly connected because of their beautiful personalities [Em] and unique sound.
As my former music teacher, the great Nadia Boulanger, used to say,
your music can never be more or less than you are as a human [D] being.
And that's the absolute truth with these two.
They're [E] not afraid to stand up for what they believe in.
And they've used music as [Em] their main vehicle to accomplish that goal.
Ever since we met in 2002, I knew that [B] we'd eventually find a project
to collaborate on at one point.
So it's absolutely beautiful to see that Letters [Em] to Bach is finally here,
17 years in the making.
And here we [E] are.
It's my absolute pleasure to be the executive producer of Letters to Bach
and lend my full support to this dynamically dynamic duo,
