[A] This next song we're going to do is entitled [Bm] I'm No Longer an Orphan.
I wrote this song back [A] probably about six years ago.
My oldest daughter adopted a little [F#] girl from Kazakhstan, a former Russia state.
She and my son-in-law, and they [C#] prepared for a year to bring that [A] little, she was 11 years
old when she came here.
[Em] And [E] I wrote a song, I got a song [Bm] about just [A] the procedure of bringing her to America.
You think of a little girl, [E] 11 years old, [B]
in an orphanage, and no mother.
Her mother had died, and [A#] no record [A] of a daddy.
[E] She knew nothing about her daddy.
And her [Bm] grandmother had her, and she gave her up for adoption, didn't want her.
The last verse of this song [A#] says, I came so empty-handed.
I thought [B] about that [F#] because she had to go, she had a day [Em] in court.
And [B] after the court date, my son [G]-in-law took her back to the [Bm] orphanage to get her things.
And when you think about things, [A] you think about clothes, and you know.
And that little girl came out of that orphanage with her things, but it was just a little
paper [N] bag with just some little pins and things like that in it.
It says, I came so empty-handed, no place to call my home.
No one to really love me, but [Bm] now look what I own.
[D] And I wrote this song about that little girl.
[C#m] She's 18 years old now, and [F#] she's doing her [E] internship, and she's working at orphanages in Honduras.
Isn't that something?
And how the Lord prepares us for the future, [A] you know, we might not understand [G#m] it now,
but [C#] He knows, He sees the long picture.
[E] And that's what this song's about.
Sometimes songs make a little more sense [F#m] when you know where they [G] came from and the heart
they came from.
[A#m]
[D] Jeff's going to sing it right now.
[A] No, I won't.
Once my clothes were ragged, the world [E]
owned [A] me.
And I had no hope for tomorrow or [E]
[A] eternity.
And then grace came with mercy and heard this orphan's plea.
And now I've been adopted, from bondage I've been set free.
And now I'm no longer an orphan, someone has rescued me.
My garments no longer are tattered, my family is [E] [A] royalty.
Mama.
Yes?
I came so empty-handed, had no [Bm] place to call [A] my home, had no one to really love me.
Oh, but now [B] look what [A] I owe.
I'm feasting on the manna that comes [E] from God [A] on high.
And there is no shortage, there is [E] a vast [A] supply.
An orphan, someone has rescued me.
My garments no longer are tattered, my family is royalty.
And now I'm no longer an orphan, someone [E] has rescued [A] me.
My garments no longer are tattered, my family [E] is [Em] [A] royalty.
