Start Jamming...
[E]
[Ab] They're gonna be playing the prog stage today and I am joined by their front lady.
It is Rosie from [Db] person.
Hello
Hello, how you doing?
[A]
Yeah you [B] too, and I've got to [Gbm] say love the [Gb] outfits
These are roasting.
Oh, yeah, I was gonna say is boiling out.
You must be dying [Gbm] right now.
Yes, they're very unforgiving
[Db] So are you looking forward [Gb] to playing rambling man?
Yeah very much.
They can't wait
Yeah, and had you heard anything about the festival before you I've heard very good things
[Ab] I've not been before [Gbm] my dad came last [Gb] year and some friends of mine came last year and [A] they've all told me very good things
About it [Gb] and [Gbm] obviously the lineup which unfortunately I'm going to miss
I've been looking forward to this most of the year
Because [A] the bands on the prog stage after us are some of my favorite bands of all time [B] and we're gonna miss them
Our van has to be back in London by 9 o'clock
So we [Gb] have to leave at about 5 this happens to every band
Seem to just jump straight on the tour bus and then [B] head off we don't usually [Gb] do that actually we [Dbm] usually take advantage of the perks
[Gb] Okay, but today but it's quite loud.
You can hear in glorious
No, it's like whoa David Coverdale's here already.
No, it's not sing glorious
Well, we [A] are a festival like I said, and [Db] you've probably been to a few, you know throughout your life
Well, have you got any like what's your first festival memory [E] that you have?
Um generally [Gb] not pleasant ones actually [Dbm] I got punched in the face watching the [Eb] prodigy when I was 14, that was [A] very nice
[C] [E] [Db] I went with George actually who's in the band
We were friends [E] from way back and [E] we split up got lost each other.
It's for mobile phones
So I just found myself in the middle of a mosh pit.
I didn't really know what a mosh [Db] pit was and punched in the face
Do you have a nice festival memory?
Yes
The most recent nice one actually was a oh god actually then I'll talk about doona jam
Which is a festival in Sardinia.
Yeah, very small.
It goes on for about two weeks and it's like a two-week long intimate party
There's only 300 people allowed and you have to be invited by the organizer
If not invited you have to write in a letter as to why you should be invited.
You're joking
No, this is for a bill or you have to know a friend of somebody who's very involved or something like that
We only got into a [B] plane
[Eb] And I think once [B] you play you're part of the inner circle and you can go again if you like
Yeah, but it's just
[Ab] So amazing really really relaxed
Really loving [E] environment.
Everyone's very very [Db]
giving so you'll sort of swap drinks for accommodation and things [Gb] like that
It's very kind of [Db] communal.
What's your must-have [E] rider edition?
[B]
We never get what we ask for [Bb] anyways, it doesn't actually matter
Because we're not big enough yet
[Eb] With my old band I [Dbm] used to ask for tights and [Bb] I got that a couple of times
[E] Yeah, tights
Because it's just something that [Bb] you forget to bring with you or you've never got enough.
Well, they [Eb] ladder.
Yeah.
Yeah
So yeah [Ab] quality tights
Right, we don't ask for tights [E] person don't ask for tights
[Abm] But [Eb] we ask for we always get whiskey and wine.
So that's pretty basic
But keep it to the W's whiskey and whiskey and wine.
We're not really a beer [Dbm] band to wear a whiskey and wine band
Yeah, [Eb] I love it.
You say we don't get [A] what we ask for [Eb] on the rider.
You should [Gb] get anything really
[Ab] What's the most [G] ridiculous thing that you put on there like the [D] have you tried cuz I [Gb] would just try it and see if I
Know we do sometimes actually what did we [E] ask for?
We did write a really really silly one
[G] I think someone has some promoter pissed us off or something.
So we just wrote in the most ridiculous rider.
It was a
[D] [E] You know
Packet of haribo with all the [B] keys taken out or something like that
And did they [Eb] know we didn't get any of it do you have any musical guilty pleasures Oh loads
[Gb] [Eb] Love songs from Greece
Grease do [Db] I can't even actually I could imagine you rocking out to Greece wearing [B] that outfit right now
You've got the flares for it.
I kind of have a soft spot for musicals actually
[Bb] So yeah, [Ebm] okay that I can imagine [Eb] and what were you listening to on this [Db] on the tour bus on the way over here?
Nothing [B] nothing each other whining
Moaning [Bb] about the weather
Conning the bus [Ab] so we were all so I was when I put my makeup [Eb] on it about 7 this morning
Which was a stupid idea.
Yeah, so I was just [Ab] trying not to melt
Planning myself for [Bb] things and now [Db] the last time I caught up with you and you said that [C] you love [Em] Genesis
Yeah, what do you love about the band?
[B] Just how outrageous they are and you know, um, [E] just no holds barred
[Ebm] With their ambition I guess a lot [Eb] of bands try to keep it too simple and I like the [Ebm] fact that they don't but I love progs
[Eb] You like prog you do indeed.
Um, but what it what it what period are [Ebm] you are you?
Yeah, the early period not the first couple of albums actually although I love them but um
[B] Favorite is lamb lies down followed by Foxtrot.
[B] Yeah
Okay, and what is it about those particular albums?
[Eb] um
The storytelling I think where it takes you it's
[Ebm]
It just paints a film in my head as I'm listening to it so it's really really indulgent music for me
They and they influenced your music.
Would you say?
Yeah
Yeah, hugely [Ab] I don't know if other people can can hear it, but I can you can yeah
[Eb] And I know that you were huge [E] Beatles fan as well and [Ebm] revolver is 50 this [A] year on the [Ab] 5th of August
And say what is it about that album I know 50 [Gb] years unbelievable, isn't [Eb] it?
well, I think
[Db] Rubber soul is kind of touching on it.
But once I done revolver that would that [B] just changed everything I think because music before that was [Eb] very
Simple really welcome.
It was rock and roll R&B.
It wasn't all of these other influences that they brought on the album
I mean [Db] like tomorrow never knows
It went into [B] so many different styles
Which had never been done [F] before and I think technology is well helped as that was [Eb] evolving.
Yeah, but I [Ebm] was good on four-track
I don't know how the hell they did it
Just amazes me every [Ebm] time that so and do you listen to that album a lot?
Yes.
Yeah, and do you excuse?
Are you a vinyl junkie?
Do you love vinyl because I know your albums come out on vinyl and we are having to have one here
And I know you were saying it's [Eb] blue.
The disc is blue
This one isn't this one isn't but [Ebm] yeah actually sold out of all the black ones, which is fantastic
You sold out of the black one.
It gave us an excuse to print in blue
Okay, cool [Eb] and do you have a blue one you have a
One [Abm] I want a blue [Bm] one now
