Queen Naija - The Official Story — Told By Her chords
Start Jamming...
[Eb] My name is Queen Nija.
I don't think [Ab] most people realize yet that Queen is actually my first name, [Eb] or how much
[Bb] power my mother gave me [Fm] by naming me that.
[Gm] [Ab]
My uncle used to tell my mom, she's going to be a [Eb] star, and that's a good name to see in lights.
[Ab]
She always said she envisioned it, and what though, she [Eb] didn't know.
[Fm] [Gm] I didn't always know either.
[Ab]
But I'm evolving over time, and people will see how I went [Eb] from nothing to finding myself
in a church.
[Ab]
When I was younger, no one called me Queen, because [Eb] I was so little.
[Fm] Everybody in the [Gm] neighborhood called me Nija, [Ab] my middle name.
When I started singing in [Eb] high school, at football games and talent shows, [Ab] Queen was
the more official name.
So I went by that for the [Eb] first time.
[Fm] [Gm] [Cm]
[N] When I divorced my ex-husband, I gave [Fm] up everything.
[Ebm]
[F] The only experience [Gb] I knew up to that point was [Eb] one built between the two of us.
[Fm] I mean, [Ebm] we shared a YouTube channel, [F] an [Gb] Instagram.
We shared [F] everything.
[Db] [Bb] We built a successful [Abm] brand.
[Cm] Or so I [Gb] thought, until [Eb] everything failed.
[Fm] That's when I created my own [Ebm] YouTube channel.
[F] When it came time for me to release my [Gb] first single, I wrote Medicine [Eb] by Queen Nija.
[Bb] That became the birth of my destiny, [Abm] a new beginning, [Db] and a new world of [Gb] music.
[F] [Bbm] It's crazy to see how many people want to see me.
I [Bb] thought what I used to [Db] do on [Abm] YouTube, putting our [Eb] relationship on display, [Gb] was my [Eb] path.
Because everybody loves love.
I [Bbm] believe that's why so many people followed us.
[Abm] But people have seen my [Eb] story, and a lot of women go through the same [Gb] thing, [Db] betrayal.
[Eb]
And I [Gbm] added forgiveness to [Bbm] it.
And [A] I've been rewarded [Abm] with more happiness and more followers than ever.
[Gb] Men and women are inspired by that, [F] because you can do it too.
You can [Bb] take a bad situation that everybody goes through and turn it into your [Abm] dream.
[N]
I have a bigger purpose here.
It's not just creating R&B music to relate to people and writing from my life experiences.
That's just a way for me to express myself.
But my ultimate goal, and I don't know how it's going to happen or when it's going to
happen, is to lead anybody I can to God, any way I [E] can.
And I know that R&B right now is not the [Ebm] ideal way forward.
Ain't nobody going to hear medicine and think about going to church.
[Db] I understand that.
But I'm evolving over time, and people [Eb] will see how God showed me His grace through [Abm] my
mistakes, and how I was able to change [E] and connect to Him.
At the end of the day, as long as I can get [Ebm] His name heard, God's name I mean, Jesus,
[Db] my job will be done.
Not done, [Eb] but I will have fulfilled [Abm] my gift.
[E] [Ebm]
