I was looking at my sweet daughter and I was moved to pray for her.
So in that moment, I prayed over her and that prayer is what eventually led to this song.
I know the power of prayer personally in our lives.
We have a daughter, Hannah, [Db] that was born [Ab] with a condition called neurofibromatosis,
[Bbm] which [Db] causes tumors to grow on the [Ab] nerve endings in her body.
[Gb] At one point when Hannah was about three years [Db] old,
[Eb] there was [Ebm] about a three-week [Ab] span where she couldn't walk
because [Db] the tumors had grown on nerve [Ab] endings in her spine.
[Bbm] As any [Ab] mother would, was very, very distraught by [Gb] this thought that [Fm] she would never walk again.
And I [Ebm] just hit the floor knowing [Ab] that I needed to [Gb] pray.
This was a moment for God to [Ab] come through, trusted and [Db] believed the Lord to [Gb] heal her.
And [Ebm] over that course of that time, I [Ab] knew, I knew He was going to heal her.
[Db] And He did.
[Gb] May His hand bless your [Ab] future [Db] with friendships that last.
[Gb]
May you [Ebm] cherish your [Ab] youth and [Db] not grow up too [Gb] fast.
About a year after I wrote the song, [Db] I gave the lyrics [Ab] to John Mandeville, my producer,
[Bbm] and just asked [Ab] him if he thought that this was something [Gb] that we could maybe put on the album.
[Db] And he read over the lyrics and [Ebm] decided that it was worthy [Ab] of some thought.
[Db] So he sat down and [Ab] gave it this melody, and [Bbm] I think it's perfect.
[Ab] [Gb] After we put the [Db] song on the album, we decided [Ebm] that we would make [Ab] it just a simple [Gb] little glorified [Db] PowerPoint [Ab] presentation to put on YouTube.
[Db]
[Gb] And so we put it on there, not [Ebm] really thinking a whole lot about it.
But it has [Db] grown and just [Gb] multiplied over time, and I'm just blown away by the amount of response from [Db] it.
[Ab] People writing me all the [Db] time, constantly sending me [Gb] messages, letting me know what it's done [Eb] in their lives.
[Ebm] [Db] Dear Rachel, [Ab] when I got out of the [Dbm] hospital, the memorial plant started.
[Ab] And I was at a loss in the evening when we were desperate,
when I didn't know [Dbm] anything else to do than to [Ab] pray or cry for my little angel.
Your song was with me.
Looking on [Fm] YouTube, I stumbled across [Ab] the song, A Mother's Prayer.
Dear Rachel, [Db] in late November of last year, I thought all was going great,
[Ab] and I was going to have a healthy baby in only [Db] ten more weeks.
As your great song, A Mother's [Ab] Prayer, helped me and my [Db] children, especially my little daughter.
[Ab] She is now [Db] three.
Dear Rachel, four [Gb] years ago, I went through a tough [Db] time due to a miscarriage.
And [Ebm] last year, when I found I was pregnant [Ab] again, fears of losing [Gb] the baby came invading my life.
[Db] I [Ab] praised God last October [Db] of 2009.
God [Ab] blessed me with a precious little girl, [Ebm] now five months.
Thank you so much.
May God bless [Db] you.
Thank you, Rachel, for sharing with us.
[Ab] Your song has inspired me to keep praying [Ebm] for her continuously.
[Fm] She is very special and has the [Db] favor of God over her life.
[Gb] By the way, her name is [Ebm] Hannah, too.
[Eb] It's [Gb] absolutely a God thing.
God has [Ab] obviously anointed this well beyond any [Gb] talent or skill of my own.
But it's really exciting to be a [Eb] part of it.
