A couple of years ago, a few years ago, I posted Rain in standard tuning.
I think I did standard tuning.
Maybe I tuned the high A string down to D.
I don't know.
But there's that version.
And there seems to be some debate over whether it's open G or some other tune.
And if it is open G, I find that pretty hard to believe.
But in the spirit of open-mindedness, I'm going to do an open G one.
You can decide for yourself if you like it.
On the internet, there's a bunch of different versions of Rain, and they all seem to run
at different speeds.
So I just
I think the one I'm playing along with is the clip there, down at Sullivan.
And I just tuned my G to that.
So there's other ones that run slightly higher pitched than that, or slightly lower, depending
on the speed that it plays back.
So I just chose one.
So the one that you play along with or you listen to might be slightly up or down from
this version.
But I just chose this one.
[Gm]
[G]
[C] [D] [G]
[C] [Dm] [G]
[C]
[G]
[F] [G]
[C] [Am] [G]

[G]
[C]
[G]
[C] [Dm] [G]
[Am] [G]
[C]
[G]
[C] [G]
there it is.
The chords, really, for that version are just all the way open.
[C] [Dm] [G]
So that's B at the first fret, D at the second.
And then move your middle finger up one, so it's B at the first fret, G at the second.
[C]
[Dm] [G]
That's just that B at [C] the first fret on the
[Dm] [G]
[C]
That's [G] that first chord, with the D at the second fret.
[C] [G]
[C]
[D] That same [G] suspension, you know, the typical suspended open G chord from the Stone and everybody else.
One thing that does kind of hint at open G is at the end, when it goes back to where
he's singing the backward vocal part.
[Cm]
You can hear him hit that [G] low D note.
[D] You can hear that, isn't it?
So it may be what [N] I think would be the only Beatles song in open G.
So there's that for further consideration.
So good luck.
And thank you to whoever chimed in and said, hey, that's open G.
So you may well have advanced the playing of the Beatles songbook.
