Hi, Germany
My name is Randy Hanson
This is my guitar.
It's a Stratocaster.
Just like what Jimmy is only use it like that
This right here is my pedal board these are all my different effects
I have a wireless built to the back of my [C] guitar here
You can see there.
See the wireless there?
Okay, that transmits [C] over there to my receiver.
[N] The receiver comes back around down here
And it comes in and it goes in right here.
This is a Univibe
[G] This is like a [F] revolving speaker effect is what it is
[Bb] This pedal right here controls the speed of it
[Eb]
You can use that to make [G] it [Eb] sound a little watered
It breaks it up a [C] little bit Buzz Wah
It has a distortion box built into the side right here
And I can turn on the
It just [Eb] adds [C]
a little bit of distortion for [Eb] if I want to like
Like that, you know?
It's not something that can arouse me
[N] And then this is a control for the amount of distortion
Right here, this control right here controls the amount of distortion that I use
[Eb]
[C] It goes into another Wah Wah pedal
And the reason I use two is for different songs this one sounds better
[Ab] And for other songs this one sounds better
So I use this one on it
[Eb]
[C] [Eb]
[Ab] [N]
[F] Okay
Okay, then out of this I come and I compress the [C] signal
And this is a compressor
Man, it's getting dirty up here
[Ab] This just compresses the signal, makes it all down to one level And [N] everything
And then also it has a sensitivity where you can make it after you've compressed it
It'll keep it at the same level and also bring up the level
Right, by using this
[C]
A lot of times when I [Abm] want to be able to play hard but still be soft
Then I'll turn on the compressor
[Ab] [B]
[Ab] [N] And then other times I'll use it in the output
I'll turn up quite high
And if I turn it up like this
[Eb] [A] Yeah?
[N]
Okay
[Gb] Usually I just set it right around there but I move it all around [C] during the night
Change different settings on [N] this one a lot
[C] This is just a copy of this
And [Eb] it sounds more like this but not exactly
A lot of times I'll set that one at a slow speed
And set this one at a fast speed
And then it's going in and it really sounds watery right there
Okay
[C] This right here is an octave
The original ones that we made looked kind of like this
Only it looked more like a spaceship kind of thing
But [Gb] they built it into this little box for me
[C] So that I could
it wasn't so big [Cm] to carry around [C] And everything
This makes the sound in Purple Haze
[F] The guitar solo [Ebm] time
[F]
[Eb]
[Bbm] [Eb]
[N]
And then I
it [Eb] also makes another sound
[B]
[Bb] It's real low
[Am] And then if all the distortion and [C] everything is on
It's really wild
This is the oldest pedal up here
And this was made in 1966
[Db] And this is what Jimmy [Ab] used to get the really, really outrageous [Gb] feedback sounds
That he used to get
A lot of [Ab] times I go
I'll set it up with a [F] Dyna-Con
If you would get a sound [Abm] something like this
You walk out [A] on stage, you walk out
[Eb] Get a sound something like [Ab] this
Versus walk out and see if everything is
[Db] You know, just to check it out
That gets all the really wild stuff
[Bb] [Abm] [Eb] And then all together, you know, I can
[A] [Ab] [N]
[Ab] [Eb]
It's really wild
[N]
[Ab] [Eb] [Gm]
[F] [Ab] [Db] [Cm]
[Bbm] [Fm] [Ab] [Cm]
[Gm] [F] [Eb] [Db]
[Bb] [Db]
[F] [Gb]
[Bbm] [Eb]
[G] [Gb]

[Abm] [Db] [Ab]

[Ab] [Fm] [B]
[Db] [Ab]
[N] Alvin's story
Okay, I just wanted to tell you a little bit about this shirt that I have on right here
I come from Seattle, Washington
And that's where Jimmy was from
There was a seamstress there that used to make clothes for Jimmy a long time ago
She made a lot of these type of things for him
All the things with the draping sleeves that Jimmy used to wear
And she actually made this for Jimmy
And he died before
Unfortunately, he died before he was able to get it And everything
But she held on to it and then gave it to a friend of mine
Who gave it to [G] me
And then I ended up with it
And this is like the first time I'm wearing it here in Cologne
So, yeah
I just thought it might be [N] interesting for you to hear that
