From New York, April in the morning on Hot 97.
[F] Highlights of amazing women who made history yesterday,
like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Yeah.
Bronx Queen, 29 years old.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Yes, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Mm-hmm.
Alexandria [Eb] Ocasio-Cortez.
In Virginia, Jennifer Wexton.
Jennifer Wexton.
In Florida, Debbie Marcusell Powell.
She's from Ecuador, immigrant from Ecuador.
She was rocking it.
In Michigan, Rashida Tlaib was born in Detroit
to Palestinian parents.
In Minnesota, Ilhan Omar, her Somali woman.
She came from Somalia at age 14.
It's pretty tight, man.
So, yo, 96 women.
Yeah, Marsha Blackburn down in Tennessee.
But you know, Marsha Blackburn was the one that —
remember Taylor Swift?
She's the one that came out,
was like, nah, man, I don't really mess with her.
Yeah, no, but she's still the first woman.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Look, man, she may not be on the side,
she's still a woman.
Yeah.
[N] Yeah.
Oh, so Taylor's campaigning didn't work, huh?
No.
No.
Neither did Beyonce.
Beyonce was going for Beto in the last.
She did that a little too late.
You knew Beyonce earlier.
Yeah, we knew her earlier, man.
The celebrity thing don't play everywhere, man.
That celebrity thing is everybody likes to run out
and get a celebrity.
Some people are offended by that.
I'll tell you right now, the only way that that could have
been effective, if Beyonce had had an event in Texas
a couple months ago where the only way to get into the event
to be in a room with Beyonce was to register,
people would register.
Yeah, what?
There's so many people who don't.
Texas wasn't the issue of the amount of people
that came out to vote.
It was less than a percentage point, guys.
It's white evangelical Christians that —
yo, you know that church that finances
all the crazy stuff in Israel?
It's in Texas.
Yeah, but the point is those people
are already voting that way.
We need more of our people to vote.
There was more.
But even more.
More.
More.
Another million.
Would have won.
We needed some of that beehive.
So, a little more beehive.
Yeah, man.
I just, I don't necessarily believe —
I get why you don't want to blame them.
I get why you don't want to blame our people,
but those people that you're talking about were not turning.
So, you've got to get more of your people.
You would have had to get new people.
Right.
And to Laura's point —
And more of the youth.
There's maybe a way to do it.
There's a lot of people who just don't care, Ibram.
Will not vote.
They're 18.
They can vote.
They don't register.
They don't care.
And they only pay attention to celebrities
and whatever gossip is going on.
A lot of those people pay attention to their families
and their parents and their churches, too.
And Beyonce popping out.
While I love it and I love when celebrities get involved,
some people are like, yo, this ain't Hollywood, yo.
Yeah, I see both sides.
I see both sides.
I wish it was that easy that you just throw a celebrity up,
but that's not what people are being moved by right now.
People are really being moved by, surprisingly,
what they believe the right side of the issues are
and the progress that needs to happen.
Yo, man, in Florida, they still put DeSantis,
the guy who's sent around robocalls
with monkey sound effects going against Andrew Gillum.
He's still the governor.
He still supports the NRA.
Those kids, those parents were crying touring the country
for gun control, and they put the guy in office
that not only takes money from white supremacist groups,
but also supports the NRA in the state of Florida.
Yeah.
Death doesn't even get people to wake up, man.
Death, mass shootings.
It's crazy.
Thank you.
Just yelling the words death and mass shootings.
Can we go some- No, but I'm just saying that-

people still don't wake up.
You still don't get it.
I know.
You'll still have people in my comments like,
they want to take my guns away.
No.
Sensible gun control, man.
That's it.
That's it, just sensible.
We've been completely divided to the point
where all you do is stick with the side, man.
No one even looks issue by issue.
This is not what people do.
That's why we need more of our people to come out,
unfortunately, can't rely on people being reasonable
because they're not [Fm] reasonable.
The GOP [Gm] still got the Senate.
The Republicans [Fm]- Repug, indeed.
They still got it, [Ab] man.
They're going to try to twist it all day
and try to hoot and holler like they won something yesterday.
With Florida being that close and Texas being that close
and Georgia still not called, man.
Stacey Abrams not backing down.
[F]
They tried everything in Georgia, man.
The people in Georgia are not backing down.
It wasn't a dope victory for the Republicans yesterday.
[A] Not at all.
[Cm] [N]
