[E] It's really unique and different.
[F#m] You know we've got a couple of [E] blues rock [F#m] things in there, but really there's only a
couple and they may not even make the record.
I mean we've got some very interesting takes on the blues, some very interesting songs
like [B] Self-Inflicted [F#] Wounds.
You got a lot [F#m] of nerve blaming someone else for your mistakes.
[B] [A]
[F#] You got a lot of nerve balling up your hip [A] when you can't carry [F#m] your weight.
[A] Yeah, [F#] it's [F#m] on, another late night show.
[A] Yeah, [F#] it's a [F#m] pawn, [A] pretending you [F#m] don't know
[C#m] [D] the self-inflicted wounds.
Which are kind of slow, [F#m] desperate songs, really blues.
[D] Just a different thing.
I think it's going to [F#m]
take people by surprise and it's taken his writing up a notch [D] too.
I think this is really the [F#m] best record we've done to date and I mean that sincerely.
I think it's always [E] difficult to top a riff like the Ballad of John Henry, which is one
of Joe's trademark riffs.
And this is a different album.
It's a lot more musical actually and a lot more intense, but there's a lot of fun on it [A] too.
John, I'm all talking around the neighborhood.
[Am] You always know when you have a [D] good record going is when you hear [C] the [Am] live versions of
the songs immediately.
You know, like the arrangements are fine.
And the inspiration goes down [D] and you go, wow, that would be [C] really cool on our set.
That would be really cool [F] on our set.
I really can't wait to play these songs live.
To me, that's the fun part.
And I think a lot of this material is going to just suit the nine-piece band really [A#m] well
with the singers and the horn.
Pick up the pieces.
[F#m] Pick up the [A#m] pieces and go.
[F] [D#] [A#m] [F#]

I think this [Fm] record is, it could [A#m] be some of the best writing I've ever [F] done.
Along with James House, [Fm] the national [A#m] treasure of that [N] guy.
Tom Hambridge, same thing.
Gary Nicholson.
Gordon Kennedy and Danny Flowers.
[D] Wrote a lot of great songs for this record.
And so it's one of those things where I'm really excited for people to hear it.
And it's not the same thing that I've done.
It's different.
And it's a good kind of different.
Not just being different for the sake of [F] different.
