Sairam, who am I?
Who [E] am I?
Who am I?
This is a [C#] question Swami wants [B] all of us to ask ourselves in this journey of [F#] life.
And the most gracious Swami gives us the answer in [G#m] His very name S A I and [B] offers us two paths
to achieve or realize the same.
[C#m] Path number one starts young [F#] with Balvikas where the first lesson that you learn is the
[B] Pranava Mantra and the meaning of the same [D#] as listen [G#m] to the primeval Pranava Mantra resounding
in your heart [F#] and in the heart of the universe.
From there we [B] learn the five human values of Sathya, Dharma, Shanti, Prema and Ahimsa
and Swami beautifully explains like how you need the five fingers to act together [C#] to hold
a [F#] glass of water and drink it.
We need these five human values in [B] this journey of life and through all this we [G#m] illuminate our mind.
Now [E] that's the process of illumination.
Once the mind is [F#] having that level we start developing Bhakti.
[B] We sing bhajans, we close our eyes, meditate on the form.
We enjoy the bliss of [C#] Darshan, Sparshan and [F#]
that is the Bhakti Marga or the adoration path.
Then finally Swami says when you have all this [B] come back to the first letter in my name
which is S [G#m] or the path of service because only [C#] through the path of service [B] can you [F#] give
up this feeling of I and [B] realize that you and I are one [G#] and do Seva with that [D#] mentality.
Swami [B] says Seva must originate or the [F#] inspiration for Seva must come from the heart and not
the mind or the circumstances [B] around.
So this is the pathway [G#m] wherein you have illumination, [E] develop adoration and then through service
[F#] realize that you and everyone around [D#] you are one and the same and [B] there is the same God
[G]
residing in each of your hearts.
[D#] Now path number two [F#] is you start with service.
[D#] Service is the first step [B] in your sadhana where when you realize I am man, he is man
then you [D#m] realize God is in me, [G#m] God is in him.
Then [B] you start developing this quality of adoration.
You start [F#] serving everybody looking at God or Narayana in [E] each one of them.
Adoration is [F#] a by-product of the [B] Seva that you execute.
[F#] Finally you reach the path of [G#m] realization.
You know what?
God is in me, God is in him.
No, no, no, no, I am God because all that comes out of me is [E] love and we realize that
love is the source, [B] the path, the goal.
So here is a beautiful bhajan where [F#] we try to remind ourselves that we are Om, [E] we are
Satya, [B] we are Dharma, we are Shanti and [C#] finally we say, well, it's not [F#] all these.
I am [G#m] love, I am love, I am love.
This is what the whole process of asking yourself this question, who am [G] I?
