[N] This song's called
[B] Lost Without You, and I co-wrote it with my friend Ben Queller.
I had been wrestling with it for [A] months.
I had written this little beginning that I thought was good,
but I knew that the chorus was failing.
And so I had a day off on tour, and I was headed to San Antonio,
so I flew straight to [Bb] Austin and spent the [A] night off with Ben at his house.
And he is such a cheerleader.
It was the sweetest thing.
He [Db] really liked [Bb] the beginning of the song, and he had an idea [A] of how to resolve the chorus in a way that we both really liked.
But he kept [Abm] encouraging me to write more verses.
[Bb] Normally my songs are two and a half to three and a half tops, [A]
but this [Ab] song's five minutes.
[Db] It might be a little quicker when I play it for you guys now.
I tend to play things fast.
But Ben was such a cheerleader.
He kept going,
man, let's really think about [Eb] what you were thinking [Bb] about when you were writing [Db] the song,
which I normally tend to just let it come out, and I don't try and think about [A] what it's about.
But Ben really pulled this out of me.
It was [Eb] very sweet.
He's a [A]
great co-writer, [Ab] so I was lucky to be able to write this song with [Bb] him.
[Ab] All right, here we go.
[Bb]
[F] [Bb]
[F] [Bb]
I was going through a hell of a time when [F] suddenly you showed [Bb] up.
You gave me hope [Eb] when I [Bb] lost mine, but [F] hope is not [Bb] enough.
I [Eb] loved you so [Bb] hard it [F] broke my heart.
[Bb] And you [Eb] weren't like the [Bb] rest till you [F] left.
Yeah, [Dm] [Eb]
without [Bb] you [Eb] it's all coming [Bb] to me now.
[F]
[Dm]
[Eb] I'm lost without [Bb]
you.
[Eb] All I [Bb] do is look [F] around.
[Eb] When will I get [Bb] found?
I was living in [Eb] Niecy's [Bb] house because [F] she no longer [Bb] could.
Soon enough they'd [Eb] kick me [Bb] out [F] and tear her down for [Bb] good.
The [Eb] chimney was [Bb] broke, so [F] the house filled with smoke.
[Bb] And I [Eb] can't catch my [Bb] breath now she's [F] left.
[Bb] Yeah, I'm [Eb] lost [Bb] without you.
It's [Eb] all coming [Bb] to me [F] now.
[Bb] Yeah, I'm [Eb] lost without [Bb] you.
[Eb] All I [Bb] do is look [F] around.
[Eb] When will I get [Bb] found?
Oh, hand over your sidewalk's mine, [F] chewing on a [Bb] Camelot.
I was walking on a perilous line [F] between too much and just [Bb] right.
You long [Eb] narrow [Bb] street, you've [F] been there for [Bb] me.
You were [Eb] not like the [Bb] rest till you [F]
left.
[Dm] Yeah, [Eb] I'm lost [Bb] without you.
It's [Eb] all coming [Bb] to me [F] now.
[Dm] Yeah, [Eb] I'm lost [Bb] without you.
All [Eb] I [Bb] do is look [F] around.
[Eb] When will I get [Bb] found?
[F] [Bb]
I was working on a bottle of wine when [F] she pulled up outside.
[Bb]
She was glowing like an open sign on a [F] place I'd never [Bb] tried.
So I told [Eb] her my [Bb] life through [F] the course of the [Bb] night.
Yeah, she was [Eb] not like the rest [Bb] till she [F] left.
[Bb] Yeah,
[Eb] I'm lost [Bb] without you.
It's [Eb] all coming to [Bb] me [F] now.

You [Eb] gave it to [Bb] me, but I [F] refused to see.
[Bb] It was [Eb] in front of [Bb] me, but it [F] left.
Yeah,
[Dm] [Eb] I'm lost without [Bb] you.
It's [Eb] all coming [Bb] to me [F] now.
[Bb]
Yeah, I'm [Eb]
lost without [Bb] you.
[Eb] All I [Bb] do is look [F] around.
[Eb] When will I get found?
[Bb] Yeah, I'm [Eb]
lost [Bb] without you.
A [Eb]
[Bb] riptide's pulling me [F] down.
[Bb] Yeah,
[Eb] I'm lost without [Bb] you.
And if [Eb] you see me [Bb] swimming [F] around,
[Eb] please [Bb] don't let me [F]
drown.
No, it's [Eb] high time I got [Bb] found.
