Now she was, yeah, she was a fantastic blues singer from [D#] the 20s and
30s and she was also [N] kind of a pioneer because she held on to her copyrights for her songs that
she wrote and so she actually saw a bit of money from them which was kind of very forward thinking. _
_ And you know [A] she had a great career and then you know taste changed [E] and the blues voice turned into
something else [C#] and so she kind of eased out of music and then she ended up going back
and retraining as a nurse because she had taken care of her mother and was [E] really inspired by
the nurses who had helped her out so she wanted to be one.
She lied about her [F#] age because she
could get into the program because she said she was like I don't [C#] know like eight to ten years
younger than she actually was.
She did this program and then she was a nurse for like I
don't know a couple decades you know she just turned into a nurse and didn't even talk about
[N] people who worked with her didn't know she was a singer and then they made her retire and they
didn't even know how old she actually was and still made her retire so she was already past
retirement age and then she was rediscovered and went back out on the road in her 80s.
And I'm just like that's cool _ _ that's a life well lived you know what I mean and I also mentioned
it because [F#] you know my aunt was a nurse she's retired now and my cousin's a nurse and boy
[D#] the medical profession has had it really hard [N] over the last year and a half and it's just
it's a hard job anyway you know and it's a really necessary one and we just got to support them
better because it's a hard [E] job especially now it's just really really [D#] hard so just tell you
I wanted to take [F#] the opportunity to say that and we're going to do a little a little Alberta's
[C] version of this of this song which you've probably heard before. _ _ _ _
_ [N] _ Once [E] I lived a life of [A] a millionaire

[F] If I ever [F#] get my hand [B] on a dollar [A] again I'm [D] gonna squeeze it till [B] that [G#] eagle
_ [G] _ _ _ _ _ [E] _
[C] But oh [Em] _ nobody [E] knows you _ _
[Dm] When you're down _ _ _ _

[D] Friends well you [A] haven't eight but as soon as you [E] get back up on your feet
[Dm]
Well then many [Em] friends [D] you'll chance to [E] meet
[F]
It's [F#m] strange to say [A] _ any doubt
