_ _ _ Richard Wayne Mullins started life in rural Indiana in 1955, born the oldest son in a hardworking Quaker farm family.
He embraced the promise of the [Em] gospel at a young age, but spent the remainder of his 41 [Am] years wrestling with [Dm] the implications of it.
[A] Rich formed his first band, Zion, while in Bible College in Cincinnati.
Eventually, one of his song demos, Sing [D] Your Praise to the Lord, landed in the [A] hands of Amy Grant.
He was captivating.
_ Anybody that ever toured with him, you know, another band, other musicians,
unlike any other artists, people sat on the side of the stage and watched.
[G] The immediate success of Amy's single launched Rich's career, [D] a career that would span 16 years [A] and 11 albums,
including a gold record, eight number one songs, the number three Christian album of all time as rated by CCM magazine,
and a body of work performed by artists [Dm] like Jars of Clay, Michael W.
Smith, and Third Day.
_ Rich's life [Am] is a _ is definitely [D] a legacy of genuineness and of [Am] sacrifice [G#] and [E] of love for God and his people.
17 years after Rich Mullins [D] tragic death in a car accident, his [E] life and music continue to challenge and stir [D] new generations.
His story is now being told afresh in the film [G] Ragamuffin.
