Hello folks, how's it going?
This is Paul McKay of One Voice Music Academy.
Tune your mind.
And I'm actually going to show you how to sing Twinkle Twinkle [A] Little Star using some riffs and runs.
Okay?
Now, if you'll notice the prior couple of videos that I did, I was talking about making use of the pentatonic scale to do your riffs and runs.
I'm going to apply the scale to the simple [C] song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
It will be in the key of B flat major.
Okay?
I'm going to start [B] off simply by singing the song, just a phrase of the song, very simply with no riffs and runs.
Just staying true to the melody.
Okay?
So [Bb] here it [A] is.
Twinkle twinkle little star.
How I wonder what you are.
Simple, right?
What I'm going to do is add the word star, which is actually the fifth note of the B flat major [C] scale.
[F] Star.
[Bb]
[G] [F] Our fifth note.
Alright?
So, [G] star.
I'm going to apply the pentatonic that is the first inversion that I presented in the previous videos.
Okay?
So, check it out.
If you'll notice, the first inversion in this particular key, B flat major.
[F] Okay?
You'll recognize that from the other videos.
[G] [Fm] So, twinkle [N] twinkle little star.
How I wonder what you are.
See how that works?
So, if you can apply [Bbm] the pentatonic scale to this [F] simple song, Twinkle Twinkle Little [A] Star, how about a song that maybe you wrote?
Or a song that you love and that you know?
Or another simple song like Happy Birthday to You.
How about if we try that?
[Bb] Same key.
[N] Happy Birthday to You.
Happy Birthday to You.
[Db] You see that simple pentatonic coming right in there?
You can squeeze it in, in so many places.
It takes a little bit of intuition or theoretical knowledge to know precisely where it would be appropriate.
But go ahead and practice.
You can train your ear to know when to apply that particular inversion.
Okay?
So, this is actually the first [Fm] inversion that I presented.
And simple practical ways to [Gb] apply it to a song that you know.
Alright?
So, until next time, this is Paul McKay of One Voice Music Academy.
