[N] Hey, what's going on Joe coffee here for premiere guitar comm or backstage at a seven-dust show and I've got the man himself with
Me Clint Lowry Clint.
How you doing, man?
We're here to talk about gear you're quite the gear head yourself man
We were checking out your rig a little while ago.
Take us through it man
Basically, it's just a run, you know all PRS guitars.
I love I got a couple of customs seeing a couple single cuts
Bruce Lee a while ago
Explain to Bruce Lee.
I don't know man.
There's nothing that special about it
I mean, it's a great all PRS guitars are great
But this one I've just for some reason it just resonates with me
It just it plays great.
The neck width is great
Everything about it is just like custom fit for me and I for some reason gravitate toward it, you know
And I think they met Bruce Lee because there's a Bruce Lee sticker on the back.
He's like my favorite, you know
So yeah, you know just kind of a that's my baby, man.
I love that guitar
They just go that extra mile to make the guitar a guitar friend like a player friendly guitar, you know
It's they play themselves that they're great
Cutting the woods amazing the from from the tuning keys to everything
I mean they put a lot into it man and plus, you know, I just I don't know man
I played one 13 years ago and fell in love man.
I can't play anything else man.
Yeah, let's talk about amps
You're a diamond guy.
Yeah, I've been around everywhere
I've been like the but I played a lot of different amps, you know, I know you played a mark for for a while
Yeah, I still have that mark for it's been on every recording
I've ever done as far as it's always been in there somewhere the mark for I got that actually right when it first came out
The actual head I have but um, I went to you know, I've been I played he's a Kettner for a while
But now I'm on diamond man.
They're doing great.
They made these these amps.
They're just they're raw man.
They're awesome
So, how would you describe the the Phantom?
They use the cabs to right?
I mean, how would you describe the whole rig to somebody who's not hip to it?
I mean, what is it about the diamond Phantom?
It's just it's got a lot of bite.
It's you know
John the other guitar player he's as Randall and there's a lot of low-end and that with the diamonds
There's a lot of mid and there's a lot of cut in the tone.
So with me and John
it's like I wanted something that was kind of different from what he had and
And it's where it would make a broader sound the diamond is just straight to the jugular
It's like a really mean sounding amp, you know, it's got a lot of gain but not a thin brittle sound
It's really contained kind of gain
Structure to it.
It's it's a great at man.
I mean, you know, it's got it's got low-end
It's got all that as well.
But it's just like I think the focal point of it is the is the tonality
It's just it just it's really MIDI and it cuts through right in the middle.
So I love a man.
Love him
So effects I noticed you have a rack mount system with some shelves
You've also got a board take us through your signal chain when it comes to how you get your dirt and your other effects
Well, I used the I use the to the two phantoms
I also use the clean channel and both of those a GCX foot controller.
I have a phase 90.
I have a delay
TCX electronics but delay in there I have
the whammy actually I use a volume of volume pedal for that for
For the expression on the way me because the way me is like, you know
I would stomp on it a lot the actual Digitech whammy I use and it just didn't have a lot of durability to it
So I kind of you know, and the signal it's I use the you know expression pedal because it's a little more durable
So I got that through the MIDI and I don't know man.
I got a few different I got the delays
I don't have that many effects.
I have a chorus pedal envelope filter
You know a couple of specials in there, but not not like I'm not there's not a million pedals going on
There's just a few I use a lot of delay on you know on the live shows now and it depends on the set we do
But on this particular tour, I don't have that many effects going on
But you know still I mean I have to have some of your candy in there, you know
You gotta have it, you know something to make it special, you know
So what is your signature tone, you know, like like what's your what's your waffle tone signal chain?
From the song waffle man.
I don't know that was you know, it's like yeah, it's different because in the studio
You you don't you have as many things in the pipeline, you know, try to keep it as really
Simple as possible and I mean for basic tones
I would run straight head and guitar for 12 head and and guitar, you know, and there's nothing else in the line
No noise, no noise compressors anything just it's just a really tight, you know tone with nothing at all, you know
But I mean, you know if live is different because you get you know
You want to make you want to make it a very quiet amp, you know
Cuz you got buzz noises you got issues that go on out here
Especially when you don't know what the power is gonna be like some days you go
You don't know if you have you know, some sometimes you have this really insane buzz out of nowhere
So you gotta try to make your amp, you know durable for those kind of things
So it's you know, you got to do different things, but in the studio, it's a very very clean path
It's just a head it's our for the you know for the basic tones, you know, tell us
What should we look out for in the future from you guys?
Europe is like a market.
We've just never have we've never hit, you know
We did a few small things years like ten years ago now this year
We're doing the rock and ring rock and part download a couple of festivals in Sweden
Just we're really gonna try to introduce ourselves over there, which is weird because we've been here 12 years, you know
But now you know Europe it'll be we need to kind of get away from the States and break ourselves in different places
And that's we're just like going hard at Europe this, you know this whole year.
We're gonna be doing that
We're gonna go do the summers headline in the fall
Then maybe come back over with someone else next year before the record drops over here and and just you know
Because the fans in Europe man, I would whenever there were the corn guys.
They're unbelievable man.
They're great here
I mean, that's our fan base here
But there's people but they really appreciate music and you know, we we want to get over there, man
Last question.
What do you want people to know about you as a player?
We talked about your gear, but you know
You know work and experience into your sound, you know when people describe you, you know, what do you want them to say?
I mean, you know, what is it about you as a player that makes you who you are?
I?
Mean a first off is I love the art of soloing.
I
Seven us records when we first came out.
There wasn't a lot of guitar solos
But I grew up in the the Steve Vai dime bag, you know dime bag was later about like, you know
Adrian Smith and Dave Murray and in Vey and Paul Gilbert and like all these different like the shredders I grew up
That's what I grew up listening to, you know, and I even Halen, you know, just it goes on but that I love
Soloing, you know, I spent years and years woodshed and then there was the era where people weren't doing a lot of guitar solos
And I'm I'm I'm gonna go back now.
There's some cats doing it and playing like these solos
I'm like, you know, I'm gonna get into that world again
It was something that I always did and we just for you know, it was always told by producers.
Don't do a solo here
It's kind of you know guitar masturbation.
I'm a lot, you know, if you do it, right dime bag did it the best?
He didn't do just speed for speed.
He did it tastefully and and creatively.
That's what I want to do, man
I want to have those solos where you sing them and that's that's what I can do that
I've worked many hours like woodshed and like the rest of the guys do and I'm gonna do it on this next record
I'm gonna try to do those those air guitar solos, you know where people like get into it, you know
We'll see we look forward to it man.
Good luck in Europe.
We're looking forward to the show here tonight, man
Yeah.
All right.

_ TCX electronics but delay in there I have
the whammy actually I use a volume of volume pedal for that for
For the expression on the way me because the way me is like, you know
I would stomp on it a lot the actual Digitech whammy I use and it just didn't have a lot of durability to it
So I kind of you know, and the signal it's I use the you know expression pedal because it's a little more durable
_ Simple as possible and I mean for basic tones
They're great here
I mean, that's our fan base here
But there's people but they really appreciate music and you know, we we want to get over there, man
_ Last question.
What do you want people to know about you as a player?
We talked about your gear, but you know
You know work _ and experience into your sound, you know when people describe you, you know, what do you want them to say?
We're looking forward to the show here tonight, man
Yeah.
All right.
Take care.
It's Clint Lowry with seven dust.
I'm Joe coffee.
