Rival Sons - (new album) Hollow Bones (the making of) pt. 1 chords
Start Jamming...
[C] [Bm]
[Bb] [Am]
[Ab] We started writing [D] Hollow Bones
Okay, let me think about [C] this.
It was [Bm] September.
We [Gm] got ourselves three and a half weeks in the [Am] studio.
Usually everybody here, we start jamming a little bit.
J.L. would run off in the other room and start writing lyrics.
And then by the end of the day we have a song.
[F] [D]
It's weird, [Bb] they kind of just magically happen sometimes.
They go in and they [D] write all their songs in the studio.
[Am] Which is a pretty unique [D] way to do it.
They don't do pre-production.
They go in, they jam [Bb] the ideas out while they're in the studio,
write [A] the songs, and that's how they record the [D] record.
[F] [E] [Bb]
[Am]
[Db] [Am] It's one long [D] running 30 day thing that's happened.
[Ab]
You're eating, [Bb] breathing, sleeping, dreaming the record.
Anytime we're [D] recording I have everything laying around.
I keep a lot of stuff in the control [G] room, a lot of stuff in [D] the tracking room.
[E] I keep my live [Bb] rigs set up, my live pedal boards.
[Am] Of course Dave is depending on me just to [Gb] pick things and come up with ideas and sounds.
He'll usually only jump in if we're hitting a roadblock.
He'll tell me try something [D] else.
Try this 60's Tele, or try the [Bb] Silvertone, or try the 335.
He'll make suggestions, but [F] generally I'll just grab [G] stuff and generally it [A] works that way.
[D] [F]
[E] [Bb]
[A] [Db]
[D] I [C] [Bm]
[Bb] [Eb] think the band does really well under pressure.
I think that's the strength of the band.
It makes everybody step into gear.
We go in and do it right there on the floor.
You feel like [Gb] you need to [B] strike now.
It needs to be good [D] now.
[C]
[D] [B]
Thundering Voices, me and Miley had been in the room and often Miley will have a groove,
or I will have a riff, or [Gb] he'll kind of beatbox me a little beat, or I'll beatbox him a little beat.
Almost immediately the feeling was there.
I had this riff.
It felt really, really right.
It felt really funky.
There was a lot of space in [F] it.
This really worked with [Gb] what Michael [A] was wanting to do.
Really, we had the chorus and the intro maybe in like [Dm] 10 minutes.
[Em] [F] [Dm]
[C]
[F]
[G] This is [F] loud and [Dm] clear.
[N]
