Robben Ford Guitar Lesson - #17 - Blues Motif Revolution chords
Start Jamming...
[A] So this is a shuffle in the key of A.
[Cm] [Db] [D]
And bass drums and rhythm guitar.
[A]
[D] [Eb] [E] Got a nice feel to it.
[A]
[Em] Let's [D] just take a look at some [A]
motifs [Em] we might develop here.
[C] [Dbm] [D]
Rhythm guitar's [G] got a motif going [A] there, right?
[D] [Eb] [E]
[D] [A]
[Am]
[A] Just [E] doing that right [A] there.
He plays his rhythm part.
[C] I [Db] play just [D] a couple of notes.
Rhythm part.
[A] Couple of solo notes.
[D] [Eb] [E]
[D] This one has a little [A] bit more space in [E] it.
So [A] there's a little more room for [Em] me to develop something with the lead.
[A]
[Gb] [D]
[C] [Am]
[G] [A] [D] [E]
[A]
[Em] [A]
[C] [Gbm]
A lot more [A] space here, right?
[Em] So it's kind of opened up [D] so that [Eb] the [E] lead can kind of fly a little bit [D] more.
[Am]
[E] [A]
[Dbm]
[Gbm] [D]
[Bm] [Am] [A]
[Gbm] That right there, [Gb]
[E] [D] it's [A] basically like a [E] D7 chord.
[E] [A]
I'm playing [E] the notes.
[A] [D]
[A] The D7 [A] chord plays right through the whole [E] thing.
[D] [Eb] [E]
[E] [A]
[E] [A] So obviously I'm using [D] a major [E] 6th instead of a [A] flatted 7th.
[C] [Dbm] [D]
[Am] That's a B.B. [A] King thing.
And my hero, [D] Mike [Eb] Bloomfield, [E]
he also [G] incorporated that into his [A] playing a lot.
So I [E] was very affected by [Em] that kind of [A] approach.
So yeah, [Gbm] I'm kind of playing a little bit of an arpeggio [A] there.
[D]
[Am] [A]
[Dm] Playing right [E] out of the A minor pentatonic.
[Ab] [A] And another reason for kind of [Em] hitting that A [A] note a lot,
[D]
[Am] [Em]
[A] there's just this sort of [Ebm] drive [E] in the rhythm.
So you [D] can even have a [G] drive in the harmony where you're [Eb] accentuating one thing [C] over and over, you [A] know?
And it's propulsion.
It helps the whole thing swing.
You play [Eb] like [D] that, you're playing [Bm] rhythmically as [A] well as melodically, you know?
[Em] And [Eb] [E] it just provides [Eb] an extra sense of swing and power.
[A]
[F] So let's start the track from the top and we'll do a performance using these motifs.
