[B] [A]
[B] I [E]
was [A] [E]
on [Em] the road with Tony Mitchell [Bb] and Tom Scott from the [Bm] LA Express, Tom Scott's a tenor
[B]
and Tom had done a record called Shankar Family and Friends for George and Playboy and Tom
called to arrange songs for the session [D] and he met George and Robbie Shankar at the studio
and they all kind of became [C] friends and about a year [Ab] later I think, [Fm] [Em] Tom got the kill.
[B] [Ab] [G]
After the show, [C] backstage, I was kind of hanging out [E] backstage [Dm] and I remember [Em] very vividly
just kind of turning around [Dbm] and [Db] there's all things [Bb] must pass standing in front of me.
[Gm]
[B] Here now to here, the plaid shirt, the big boots, the whole thing.
[E] And I was just stunned.
[N] He had a bigger smile on his face, he goes, hello.
[Gb] I was like, what [D] is that?
I mean I was 22 and he's a beagle.
So, he was very nice and we all wound up going back to the hotel [F] together and [B] hanging out in the Jones suite.
[G] George sat down and told me a [Ab] story about the [G]
40 minutes, I just sat there.
He just tells me the whole story of the last fall, you know, [Gb] getting it back and losing it again [N] or something.
You know that one [Bb] that's in the Revolution video?
[Bm] [N] And then the next day we all went out to this Henley-on-Thames, which looks like a castle.
Anyway, none of us knew the name.
And there'd been some add-ons, but it was the all things must pass for hours, you know.
[Eb] There were underground caves.
[D] It was an astonishing place.
[Ab] And on the top floor of the studio, we arrived about [Abm] 1, [F]
Galois in hand, [E] big smile, making tea.
[G] Hung out, started recording about 1 in the morning [Abm] until about 7am.
[G]
And you can imagine, there were things to keep you [D] up.
[Abm] And so, after [G] that, he called and invited me to do, [Eb] it was basically a US tour.
I [Ab] only remember playing Vancouver.
[B] [Bbm]
[Ab]
[G] Wow, it was pretty strange, wasn't it?
[A] [Db] Yeah, okay, New York.
[G] [Ab] My wife rode over to the gig in John Lennon's limo.
She got [D] to ride in the limo.
I didn't even [B] meet her.
[Gb] It was pretty wild, you know.
People [G] like David Bowie would be around, Bob Dylan was on [C]
the cellars.
I was there for a couple [Gm] of days.
[G]
Steve Crawford showed up.
It was pretty amazing.
[B] But I was like this blues [C] and jazz guy.
Quite [Eb] frankly, I was like, [C] wow, this is like [G] this show.
I [N] didn't feel like I actually fit.
I felt a little out of place.
It was really all I wanted to do was something like that.
So my head was in a different place.
There were a couple of years of that kind of stuff, with Joe Major.
[Bb]
[B] Where it was like, it was all going down.
