Next question, this one comes from Jazz Guy.
His question is, Robin, could you discuss in a little bit more detail some of the reasons
that you switch between using a pick or just your fingers?
Yeah, I use the pick for speed and I use my fingers for really more of the blues approach.
I actually just experimented with it a moment ago and realized that's very true.
If I want to really say something with the instrument, [G]
[Eb] [Cm]
in a [Dm] bluesy kind of way,
[G]
[Cm] [Eb]
because you get that pop, [G] I like that pop.
[F]
[C] And also, [G] when you just use a lot of your thumb, [E]
[Cm] kind [G]
[C] of low and expressive,
moody [Bb] and dark and expressive.
And then of course the pick [G] for [E]
[C] things,
[G]
moving around the guitar a little bit faster.
[F]
[G] And that can also be very bluesy, right?
[Eb] And that's very demonstrative kind of playing.
I've always referred to that as bad technique.
It's sort of like you just don't care.
[G] [Eb]
It's all down strokes.
So it's very deliberate.
It's a very aggressive thing in doing that.
Kind of like knocking on something.
[Dm] [F] [Eb] And [Dm] whenever with the [F] fingers, [Ebm] [C]
[Bb] it's things that you really want heard.
Like, okay.
It's less aggressive usually and more
