[E] Hello, I'm Amos Garrett and welcome to the very first Holmes Fund Tapes electric rhythm guitar video.
The right hand plays some straight eighth notes [B] across all six strings like this.
The left hand
[N] brings the syncopation into the form by only just very loosely touching
all six [A] strings while the strum is going on and clamping down on the chord for [B] the
accented notes in the strumming.
I think maybe we should go look at the right hand a little bit here.
[Bm] In this style you're going to want to as best you can shorten your stroke down, the length
of your stroke on your right hand so you can pretty much practice a stroke that just covers
the span of those three strings, say the first, second and third, [G#] and one that's a
little wider that will cover the span of the first to the [Bm] fourth string.
All you have to do when you're changing from one shape to another during a gliss, say if
you're going [A] from here up to [C#] here in slow motion, [F#m] I'll do this one, thank you, is that
as you're changing shape you [Gm] just leave the bar down.
You can go up on a gliss like this [A#] and all you do is leave the bar down in gliss and
[Bm] change the fingering above your bar or like this.
