Hey YouTube, Brandon Beta here coming at you today with a synth tutorial.
Today we're going to make a Moog style bass using the SC02
This tutorial could really be done on any synth whether it's analog or digital.
So let's just jump right in
we're going to start with the first oscillator, which is going to be a square wave and
The second oscillator needs to be some kind of a pulse wave on the SC02
I find that either one of these oscillator settings works and
Finally the third wave needs to be a triangle wave and it needs to be one octave higher than the rest of the waves
From there, we're going to want to get a nice mix of the oscillators.
[G] So I'll add in our
pulse here and
let's add in the
triangle there
[B] Great and our amp envelope is going to stay fairly basic
no attack, no decay
full sustain and
We're going to
Dial in our filter or cutoff.
[G] You know find a good point where
It sounds right to you and it fits your track
and we're going to use a
Filter decay here filter envelope and just add a little bit of decay to it to give you a pluck
sure on the SC02 you have to
Dial in the contour to get the effect of the envelope here
Here we've got the pluck now without it no fuck and here we're starting to get a pluck
And the last little step we need to do is we want a little modulation with the LFO
We'll just modulate the filter a little bit here just to get a little warble to it and that's it
You've got a basic analog Moog style bass on any synth really as long as you've got three
Oscillators you should be able to do this on any synth
And
Finally, we'll take this patch and basically make another kind of Moog bass
Where if we add some release here to just the amp envelope?
We'll bring this sustain
Actually, no, we're only adding release so on the sc02
The more decay you add the more release you get so even though we're not using the decay since the sustain is all the way
up we will get a decay and
This adds a nice element to the to the Moog bass when you have a little release to it
You
Great and then another kind of interesting sound I've managed to get out of this bass is
Using the filter cutoff and the resonance here
And that's it
You see that once you have the basic kind of Moog
Bass patch down it's pretty easy to go from there and get all kinds of bass synth sounds
So hopefully that helped you guys if you have the sc02
Hopefully this helps you
Make some bass patches, so I'll be putting out more tutorials like this
