[D] [G] This particular video is in response to a request
Timely request from
[B] So from a friend on [G] YouTube an unknown friend.
Well, thank you for the request.
So here we go
[Ab] Open we've removed the capo no capo to anymore open position key of G
[C] We can use any G.
[G] We'd like a lot of people are comfortable with this one
I'm going to use this shape for this particular sequence of chords because
[D] [C]
[G] It makes sense a little later in the song we end up having to use a g7
So I don't want to change I prefer not to change from [Em] this shape to this shape
I prefer to do this kind of thing.
So it [Ebm] looks just like the C chord, but sort of exploded
[G] We [D] do have an iBook available on the iOS store on the iBook store
That [N] covers all of the open position chords and some of the theories that bind them all together.
So
Check that out.
[Ab] It's a good one and [C] it's free.
You'll like it
[G] So we're going to start today with the G chord so G
Finger 3 on [D] fret 3 in the low E string finger 2 on fret 2 in the a
The next three strings are open [G] open D G and B
So on the top of all that we have the open I'm sorry the high E string on fret number 3
The fourth finger so 3 2 open open open and then finger 4 on fret 3
And [B] we're going to
[G] sort of animate that with our
down stroke pattern and just 1 2 3 4 and every time we count 4
The next down beat of the first beat of the next measure will be the next number in the number sequence.
So for example
1 2 3 4 2 3 4 3 2 3 4 4
5 2 3
Well, we'll learn a little bit about counting if we don't know already
The next chord in sequence is D and that's used with we usually do this with [D] for this particular song fingers 1 3 & 2
I mean you can use fingers 2 3 & 4 if you want [E] it sort [Gb] [G] of
Approach D [D] position bar chords, but not for this
Necessary could be fun
[A] But [D] not for the song
So we have open D finger 1 fret 2 on the G and finger 3 on fret 3 and B
Finger 2 on fret 2 on the high E string.
Okay piece of cake
Then the next [C] chord that we encounter is a C and then C is [G] no low E string
We use the tip of the finger
To sort of like
Touch up against the string [Gb] so that we can choke it out [C] in case we you know, like you're like me
You have a sloppy right hand sometimes
Rock and roll right hand.
So the third finger is on the a string on fret number three finger two is on fret number
[E] two on the D [G] string open G
finger [C] one on fret
One [D] on the D string and [Em] an open high E [C] so we have three two open one open C E G C E
Really nice chord will also
Practice that strum pattern on this chord will [G] practice that strum pattern on all chords
if we were to count through [N] the entire 16 bar sequence of
Rolling my sweet babies arms in open position in the key of G.
This is what it [G] would look like
One two, three four, here we go
one two, three four two three four three two three four four
five two three four six
[D] seven two three four eight
[G] nine three four ten
[C] eleven three twelve
[G] thirteen
[D] Fourteen and [G] then fifteen and then sixteen
Usually [N] at the end of each 16 bar pattern in songs like this
Guitar players like to twangers like to get fillers [G] like to throw [Bm] this
[E] [G] G [F] run [Gm] in there.
So [Em] that's
[G] I can do a sequence of a pile of different G runs if that's of interest to [F] anyone
Later on but it's beyond the scope of this video.
So we have this really nice
[G] Chord pattern it's really important to get familiar with the strum pattern
Because it will turn into something else.
It'll evolve into something else later on but for now, it's really important to get that right hand
Down down down down and really get it to be a mechanism and it sort of bounces in them as [C] we
[G] We strum through the down stroke.
We pluck through the down stroke to present the bass note first
the rest of the chord sort of is just a flick of the wrist and
You can flick your wrist in the middle of the range of the strings the string set or you can
Look your ring your wrist on the high end of the range of the string set.
So
So
[C] [D] [G] [D]
[G] [C] [C]
[D] [C] [D] [G]
that's it
Thanks for watching and [Gb] subscribe.
[G] There will be other videos
Maybe we'll take another detailed more detailed look at the right [Ab] hand the strumming pattern and [G] all this walking bass line stuff
In another [C] video.
I will see you soon
Hope [G] to see you on a subscribe as a subscriber more free stuff for you.
