Ronnie Tutt tells a story getting a ring from Elvis in Oct. 2000 chords

[Eb] Well,
[Abm]
there was only a couple of times I can remember in all the years that we did concerts
that I had [Db] any illness.
One time I had a [F] long drawn out, some kind of an allergic reaction to an enzyme or something.
I don't really know what it was, but it felt very feverish and very weak.
[Ab] And we were doing our, we were doing our, we were doing our, we were doing our, we were
doing our usual two shows a night, three on the weekend.
And I had to do that for a couple of [Eb] weeks.
And one night after a closing night, we went up to Elvis' [Abm] suite and George Pazito said
to me, he says, Ronnie, Elvis [F] wants to see you [N] in his room.
So I go in there and there again he was pacing again and now he says, Ronnie, he says, I
know you haven't been feeling well, but we, we would have never known it because of the
way you were playing.
And he took his ring off and it was a black star sapphire.
You know, this is my favorite ring.
So that was very touching to me, you know, personal gift from the man, you know, which
showed that he recognized my willingness to stay in there and work hard every night, just
like he did, you [Eb] know, when he was not well, he'd stay in there and work too.
I [N] asked Ronnie, if someone was sick or if someone was not feeling well in the room,
whether to tell Elvis or to keep it a secret.
And Ronnie said he was still on the ring despite an allergy and fever and so on and kept playing for Elvis.
And one day he was asked to go upstairs to Elvis' hotel room and George Pazito told him
that he should talk to him.
And Elvis gave him a black sapphire and said, we would have never noticed that you were
not healthy at your games, but we're just worried about you.
And he found that so touching, that he is still crying right now.
