[N] Roy, how do you see yourself in the entertainment world?
Well, I've never thought of it like that.
I've never looked at myself as in what position with the other artists.
I just look at my own career and if it's doing well, I'm satisfied, you know.
Do you think you'd be one or two in the world?
I've been voted in some polls number one male vocalist in the world
and also number one male personality in the music business.
I don't know what that involves.
In fact, I haven't seen the results yet, but I've been told this.
Who do you see as your main rival?
[Eb] Well, I don't really see any one main rival, you know.
The Beatles are awfully big, but they're a group, so there's not a direct competition.
Although you're in competition with all people who sing, there wouldn't be that direct thing, you know.
I would say in the polls, there was Elvis [B] Presley and Cliff Richard and those two [Bb] mainly, I guess, worldwide.
In the States, Bobby Vinton's doing real well now [F] and I [E] don't know.
I don't really follow it [F] all that close, you know.
About how many records have you sold so far?
I had a rough count at [Eb] 15 million.
That was about a year ago, I guess.
Maybe 18 million [B] by now.
You're well on the way to making your first million dollars, I believe.
Yes, yeah.
[Eb] I'm past it, in fact.
Of course, that's on paper, you know.
[C] They haven't given me the money yet, but [N] everything looks real good.
Roy, you wear high-heeled riding boots.
Could you tell us why?
No, no particular reason.
I think it's just that if you're in the entertainment business, you sort of get to wear what you want to wear.
And also, your hair is very black.
Do you do anything with it?
I put a rinse on it.
My hair is actually the color of Elvis [B] Presley's when he doesn't have a rinse on [C] his.
I would say brown-like, you know.
Well, I've never thought of it like that.
I've never looked at myself as in what position with the other artists.
