[Bm] [E]
Going into wild places, [A] in the woods or in the fields, there's a lot of things that you
can really kind of [Bm] notice and time sort of moves slower.
The set [D] is fire,
[A] trapped [Em] behind the earth, and digging [Bm] your deepest [E]
earth.
Wilderness to me is just, it's a way for me to really connect with [D] the earth and with
everything around me and with [G] my spiritual side.
There's definitely been a lot of moments [Bm]
when [D] I've been out in the stream where [A] I'll think
of a lyric or [G] songs that I'm working on will get stuck in my head.
It's really a place where I [A] feel [Bm] super alive.
[G]
I love that you're just standing in the water and the water is just [Bm] rushing past [D] you.
And I love how quiet it is and how, I love how solitary it is.
[A]
Everything is working in this certain way [Bm] out there.
Tree [A]
is snared, [D]
and sparks are [Em] flying [E] everywhere, and cables [Bm] burnt and [D] lines flared.
[B]
[A] [Bm]
And when the all in all [A] comes falling down, it was [Em] just an accident.
Something you [Bm] can't [D]
have.
[A]
I named [G] the record Range of Light because when I stepped back and looked [F#m] at all the
songs, [Bm] there was really this broad [D] spectrum or this big range [Bm] of emotional content in the songs.
[F#m] One of those emotional things for [Bm] me was having a baby.
[D]
You know, like everyone says [Bm] that when you have a baby, your entire world is [F#m] going to change.
It really does.
[Bm] Everything totally changes and just your perspective as a human starts to [G] shift.
[C#] Some of the songs, like [Bm] Crown the Pines and Alpenglow, [D] they're very much about me as a
[A] person and the [Bm] things that are most important to me, my family and being outside and being
part of [F#m] wilderness.
[D] I think the longer [Bm] time you spend with a song, the more you can see it in its pure form.
[G#] I guess I'm just stripping it [Bm] way back with this EP.
[A] [Bm]

[D]
[G] One of the main differences with [D] Range of Light was that I really involved my band [Bm] members
in the [A] recording process.
And I think our [G] relationship as a band has really grown.
[A] We all get along really well on the road, so that's really fun.
[F]
The future
[F] unfolds, fall instead.
Heartcrack, climbed, laughed on, dear life, it's uncool.
With Range of Light, everyone sort of had an equal input and some of the songs, [D] like
Creaking, I basically just [F] had the bare bones.
Piano, chords and melody.
And kind of bringing that to the band helped it grow into what it is.
I've always enjoyed on tour doing those stripped down performances, take away video type things
or [Fm] living room [C] shows or something where you really have to kind of come up with [F] arrangements
on the spot.
[C] So I guess in a way I'm kind of bringing that excitement and that sort of approach [F] to this EP.

[C#]
[F#] [C#] I decided to name the EP [A#m] Supermoon because we recorded [G] the whole thing [C#] over one weekend
in August and the [G#] supermoon [F#] was out.
[C#] That first night we tracked almost all the piano and [F#] there's something about recording
at night [F] that's so romantic.
The [F#m] vibe, [G] the piano is so dark and slow and [C#] that really shaped the whole [C#] mood of the EP.
[F#m]
During the writing and [C#] during recording I just kind of carried around one of John Muir's
books, it's called The Yosemite.
[G#] It's [A#m] just full of these amazing descriptions of the Sierra Nevada.
[Fm] [C#] I started to see this [A#m] connection in [F#] the songs to [C#] this utmost importance [F#] of wilderness [C#] [G#] and [A#m] wild places.
I always just [C#] found spiritual [A#m] connection in nature and being outside [F#] and things [C#] that really
inspire me to create [F#] music and [C#] inspire me to be who I [A#m] am basically.
[C#]
[F#] Never [C#] ending fountain, [F#] [C#]
[A#m]
my [C#] wings are pure [F#]
and forever [C#]
sounding.
