_ Going into wild places, _ _ [A] in the woods or in the fields, _ there's a lot of things that you
can really kind of [Bm] notice and time sort of moves slower.
The set [D] _ is fire, _ _
[A] _ _ trapped _ [Em] behind the earth, _ _ _ and digging [Bm] your deepest [E] _ _
earth. _ _ _ _ _ _
Wilderness to me is just, it's a way for me to really connect with _ [D] the earth _ _ _ _ and with
everything around me and with [G] my spiritual side. _ _
_ _ There's definitely been a lot of moments [Bm]
when [D] I've been out in the stream where _ [A] I'll think
of a lyric or _ [G] songs that I'm working on will get stuck in my head.
_ It's really a place where I [A] _ feel [Bm] _ _ super alive.
_ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _
_ I love that you're just standing in the water and the water is just [Bm] rushing past [D] you.
And I love how quiet it is and how, I love how solitary it is.
[A] _
_ _ _ Everything is working in this certain way [Bm] out there. _ _ _
_ _ _ _ Tree _ [A] _
is _ _ _ snared, [D]
and sparks are [Em] flying _ _ [E] everywhere, _ _ _ and cables [Bm] burnt and _ _ [D] lines flared.
[B] _ _
[A] _ _ _ _ _ _ [Bm] _ _
_ _ And when the _ all in all [A] comes falling down, _ _ _ it was _ [Em] just an accident. _ _ _ _
Something you _ [Bm] can't _ [D] _
have.
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _
I named [G] the record Range of Light because when I stepped back and looked [F#m] at all the
songs, [Bm] there was really this broad [D] spectrum or this big range [Bm] of emotional content in the songs.
[F#m] One of those emotional things for [Bm] me was having a baby.
_ [D]
You know, like everyone says [Bm] that when you have a baby, your entire world is [F#m] going to change.
It really does.
[Bm] Everything totally changes and just your perspective as a human starts to [G] shift. _ _
[C#] _ Some of the songs, like [Bm] Crown the Pines and Alpenglow, [D] they're very much about me as a
[A] person and the [Bm] things that are most important to me, my family and being outside and being
part of [F#m] wilderness. _
[D] I think the longer [Bm] time you spend with a song, the more you can see it in its pure form.
[G#] _ I guess I'm just stripping it [Bm] way back with this EP.

[G] One of the main differences with [D] Range of Light was that I really involved my band [Bm] members
in the [A] recording process.
And I think our [G] relationship as a band has really grown.
_ [A] We all get along really well on the road, so that's really fun.
_ [F] _ _ _ _
The future _ _ _ _
_ _ [F] unfolds, fall _ _ _ instead. _ _ _ _ _
Heartcrack, _ _ _ climbed, laughed on, _ dear life, _ _ _ it's _ uncool.
With Range of Light, everyone sort of had an equal input and some of the songs, [D] like
Creaking, I basically just [F] had the bare bones.
Piano, chords and melody. _
And kind of bringing that to the band helped it grow into what it is. _ _ _ _
I've always enjoyed on tour doing those stripped down performances, take away video type things
or [Fm] living room [C] shows or something where you really have to kind of come up with [F] arrangements
on the spot.
_ [C] So I guess in a way I'm kind of bringing that excitement and that sort of approach [F] to this EP.

[F#] _ _ [C#] _ _ _ _ I decided to name the EP [A#m] Supermoon because we recorded [G] the whole thing [C#] over one weekend
in August and the [G#] supermoon [F#] was out. _
[C#] That first night we tracked almost all the piano and [F#] there's something about recording
at night [F] that's so romantic.
The [F#m] vibe, [G] the piano is so dark and slow and [C#] that really shaped the whole [C#] mood of the EP. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [F#m] _
During the writing and [C#] during recording I just kind of carried around one of John Muir's
books, it's called The Yosemite.
[G#] It's [A#m] just full of these amazing descriptions of the Sierra Nevada.
[Fm] [C#] I started to see this [A#m] connection in [F#] the songs to [C#] this utmost importance [F#] of wilderness [C#] _ _ [G#] and [A#m] wild places.
_ I always just [C#] found spiritual [A#m] connection in nature and being outside [F#] and things [C#] that really
inspire me to create [F#] music and [C#] inspire me to be who I [A#m] am basically.
_ _ _ _ _ [C#] _ _ _
_ [F#] _ _ _ _ Never [C#] ending _ fountain, _ [F#] _ _ [C#] _
_ _ _ [A#m] _ _ _ _ _
my [C#] _ wings are pure [F#] _
_ _ and forever [C#] _
sounding.
