Hey, how [G] are you guys?
Back to do a lesson for Salt of the Earth from Beggar's Banquet.
The way I'm going to be showing you is in DADFAD tuning, which is the same thing as
open E, just tuned down.
Same chord shapes and everything.
So to put it in DADFAD, you're
going to put the high E and [D] low E down to D.
You're going to bring the [A] B string down
to A.
And the G string, you're going to match it [F#] to the fourth fret of the D, which would
be F sharp.
[A]
[G] Okay?
And for this song, it's really pretty simple.
You're just going to
be using like your one finger going up and down the neck.
And it's your first finger.
[A] You're going to bar the low E, A, and D.
And the other [E] strings ring out the same way.
So
you're going to be playing the song openly.
[C] [G] The G string might be a little bit [A] muted,
but the B and the high E will ring out with all [G] changes.
So in the very beginning of the
song, you're going to start the [D] fifth fret, bring it [F#m] down to the fourth, [D] open, and then
[Am] the seventh, [D] slide it up to the twelfth.
Now the verse starts, [A]
[D] [A]
[D] you're going to start
at the seventh, start with the open D chord [A] to the seventh, [F#] and four, five, [D] slide it to
the twelfth.
[A]
[D] [A]
[Gm] [D] I think there's eight lines in the verse where you're going to do that change.
And when it gets to C, F, [A] you're going to stop on the open D, add the [D] suspension.
[C] You're
going to come up to the ninth, [Bm] and I search [F#m] the eighth, fourth, [B]
[Bm] back up to the ninth,
[F#m] fourth, [B]
[F#m] back up to the fourth.
[Gm]
[A]
Then you're going to start the verse over again.
[D] [A] [F#m] [D]
[E] And that's
all there is to it.
There's another [E] part toward the end where you're going to [Bm] do that
too.
[E]
[F#m] [A]
[D] [A] There's [E] another part too where he's sliding up to the twelfth, [D] I think.
[A] Well, that's right
before that other part.
Yeah, that's right.
Right before the interlude.
[D]
[E] But a fairly simple
song that sounds great in this tuning.
Alright, thanks for
