I carry all my stuff, but can you carry me?
That's you.
It's a bit hard that way isn't it?
We are the sound of the dream.
All the good ones.
[F#] [B]
[F#m] [F#] [F#] He rode from the town of Lynn, on the road to Eanes Mead and Shore.
He pulled a car with his two hands and the strength of twenty men and more.
I grew up listening to a mixture of Irish folk music and bands such as
[B] Bleeding Tackle, [C#] Pompetti and the Heartbreakers.
[F#] I've always been fascinated with taking [B] these kinds of sounds and putting them into my [F#m] own music.
[F#] I think that kind of shows in the music I write.
[B] [F#m] Do you see how many rogues hang on yonder tree?
Not one of them shine, so I see why.
[B] [F#] I [B] met Jamie, [F#m] my banjo player, when we were both [F#] playing on the open mic scene around Bryson.
We met up to write a few [B] songs together because he came [G#] from a completely different musical background [F#] to what I did.
So it was interesting to mix his style and my style together.
That's quite prominent in the songs we play in the room.
[F#]
[C] I'd rather be buried in some cypress grove.
I think while Sam was obviously very influenced by [A] British folk music, I went down a [F#] slightly different path
and [G#] got really into American [F#] traditional music when I was about [Cm] twelve.
I started listening to people like Muddy Waters and then went further back to Sunhouse and Robert Johnson and Skip James
and also a lot of country artists as well.
I think because so much of that music was influenced by African music but also by the Irish immigrants that came over,
we find [Dm] there's a lot of common ground.
So [G] working together is [Cm] easy and we find we come up with things that,
if we're working from one person's point of view, we [G#] might not have.
I'd rather [Cm] be buried [Gm] in [G] some cypress [G] [Cm] grove.
[C]
[Fm] I think our live sound is so important [Cm] because it's really our only opportunity at the moment
to really get out there and represent ourselves and interact with an audience.
[G#] I think [C] that's really important with our [G] style of music and the kind of music [C] that we're playing
because it is focused entirely on the live performance [G#] and your relationship [C] with the listener.
[G] [C] [Cm]
[C] [Fm] See the world's your [Cm] own journey in this [C] way
[Cm] [Fm]
[F]
We recorded our first EP earlier this year at Metway Studios in Brighton, which is home of The Levellers.
We all chipped in to just [C] play all of the instruments between us and sort of [F] arrange the songs as we went.
That was our [A#] first studio experience and I [F] think it was a good one for us.
