Hi, welcome to another lesson.
Today I'm going to take a look at another one from the Eric
Clapton Unplugged album.
[N] This one's called San Francisco Bay Blues.
It's a pretty straightforward
number really, quite a good party number.
It's always gone down well when I've played
it out and stuff.
Basic chords, there are quite a few sevenths in it and kind of experiment
with the sevenths in it because it's not going to sound wrong if you don't play a seventh.
Okay, so the chords in it are simple but it's just remembering which chords follow which.
Okay, so I'll put those in the description below so you can see those and how they go.
So the chords you need to know [C] are going to be a C,
[F] an F, a [C] C7, an [A] A7, a D7, [D]
[G] a G7 and
[D] a D.
And an E [E] major and
[A] [E] an E7.
Okay, so don't be put off by the number of chords or anything
because you know, you'll get there in the end if you [B] just persevere with it.
It's not
very difficult.
Okay, so the intro starts in [C] C.
[F] F, [C] C, C7, [F] F, [C]
C.
Okay, so the intro starts
[F] in C.
F, [C] C, [G] [Bb] [A] [Em]
[D] A7, D7,
[G] G7.
And [E] that's the intro.
Okay, it might seem like a little bit of a
mouthful but realistically it's not too bad if you practice that.
So that's the intro.
As I say, all this will be in the description below.
So moving on to where the vocals come
in.
The same kind of thing.
You just find it's two figures which repeat different times.
Okay, so this is the first vocal part [C] which is, you know, I got the blues from my baby
type of thing.
So it's C again.
[F] F, [C] C, C7, [F] F, [C] C, [F] F, C, [C] [B] [Bb]
[A] [D] A7, D7, [G] G7, A7, G7, A7, G7, A7,
G7.
So that's the first vocal passage if you like.
Okay, there's one thing to explain there.
It does it throughout the song.
It's not particularly difficult.
It's when it goes [C] to the C, [B] [Bb]
[A] [Em] drops
down to the A7.
[C] And all it is is a C chord.
So that's the fifth string of the third fret.
[B] [Bb]
[A]
[Em] So it's C.
[C] [Em] [Bb]
[A] That's the kind of [C] thing.
[B] [Bb] [A]
And it does [Em] that quite a few times throughout the
song.
Okay, so then moving on to the second vocal part [C] which again starts in C.
[F] F,
[C] C,
[F] F.
This is where it does something different.
[E] D, E7, [F] F,
[C] C, [Bm] [Bb] [A]
[D] [G] G, [C] C.
Okay, so that's the second
vocal part.
And then there is an instrumental part where they play kazoos and things like
that.
It just repeats a figure which is the same as the first vocal one which I'll run
through again.
Okay, so C,
[F] F, [C] C, C7, [F] F, [C] C,
[F] F.
[C] [B] [Bb]
[A] [D]
[G]
Okay, so it just plays that twice for the
instrumental part.
That's all it does.
So now it's the last two vocal passages of the
song.
Okay, and it's slightly [C] different.
So it's [F] C, [C] F, C,
[F] F, [C] C,
[F] F, [C] C,
[F] F,
[C] [B] [Bb] [A]
[D] D7, [G] G7,
[C] [F] 7, [C] yeah.
[F] [C]
[F]
[E]
[F]
[C] [B] [Bb]
[A] [D]
[G] [C] [Em] [Bb]
[A] [Am]
[G] [C] [Bb]
[A] [D]
[G] [C] [F] [G]
[C] Okay, so on the last, [D] let's [G] just take a little bit of a closer look at the last section,
yeah, because that's the kind of bit that's slightly different from the rest of the song
because it just repeats that drop from the C to the A.
Okay, so you'll notice in the
last two [Ab] vocal passages, it's quick change [C] from the C [F] to the F [C] at the beginning.
Yeah,
so [F] it's [C]
[F] [C] that kind of idea.
[F] Then to the F,
[E] E major, E7, and then this is the figure that
it repeats.
[F] So it's F, C, [C]
[B] [Bb] [A]
[D] D7, [G]
G7, [C] C, [B]
[Bb] [A] drop into the A7, [Am] G7, [G]
G7, [C] C, [B] [Bb]
[A] yeah.
[G] And then the
last time [D] around, it's D7,
[G] G7, [C] C, [F] [C] F, [G] C, [C] G, C.
Yeah, so it played a little bit quicker
[D] at the end, you've got.
[G]
[C] [F] [C] [G]
[C] Yeah, one more time with that.
[D] Just the last kind of line of it.
[G] [C]
[F] [G] [C]
[N] And that pretty much covers it, okay?
I'll put the chords, as I say, in the link so you
can check those out.
Have fun with this one because it is quite a nice tune.
Once you've
got the passages in your mind, how they go and things, it's quite a nice tune to play.
So good luck, I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for watching.

That's all it does.
So now it's the last two vocal passages of the

Okay, and it's slightly [C] different.
So it's [F] C, [C] F, C,
[F] F, [C] C,
[F] F, [C] C,
[F] F,
[C] [B] [Bb] [A]
[D] D7, [G] G7,
[C] [F] 7, [C] yeah.
[F] [C]
[F]
[E]
[F]
[C] [B] [Bb]
[A] [D]
[G] [C] [Em] [Bb]
[A] [Am]
[G] [C] [Bb]
[A] [D]
[G] [C] [F] [G]

G7, [C] C, [B]
[Bb] [A] drop into the A7, [Am] G7, [G]
G7, [C] C, [B] [Bb]
[A] yeah.
[G] And then the
last time [D] around, it's D7,
[G] G7, [C] C, [F] [C] F, [G] C, [C] G, C.
Yeah, so it played a little bit quicker

[F] in C.
F, _ _ _ _ _ [C] C, _ _ [G] _ [Bb] _ [A] _ _ _ [Em] _
[D] A7, _ D7, _ _ _
_ [G] G7. _ _ _ _ _
And [E] that's the intro.

[C] _ _ [Em] _ [Bb] _
[A] _ _ _ _ That's the kind of [C] thing.
_ _ [B] _ [Bb] _ [A] _ _ _ _

song.
_ _ Okay, so then moving on to the second vocal part _ [C] which again starts in C.
_ _ [F] F, _ _
[C] _ C, _ _ _ _ _
_ [F] F.
This is where it does something different.
[E] D, _ _ _ _ E7, [F] F, _ _ _ _ _
_ [C] C, [Bm] _ [Bb] _ [A] _ _ _
_ [D] _ _ _ _ [G] _ G, _ [C] _ C.
_ Okay, so that's the second
vocal part.
_ And then _ there is an instrumental part where they play kazoos and things like
that.
It just repeats a figure which is the same as the first vocal one which I'll run
through again.
Okay, so C, _ _
[F] _ F, _ [C] _ C, _ _ _ C7, [F] F, _ _ _ _ _ [C] C, _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [F] F. _ _
_ _ _ [C] _ _ _ [B] _ [Bb] _
[A] _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ Okay, so it just plays that twice for the
instrumental part.
That's all it does.
So now it's the last two vocal passages of the
song.
Okay, and it's slightly [C] different.
So _ it's _ [F] C, [C] F, C, _ _
_ _ [F] F, [C] C, _ _
[F] _ F, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [C] C, _ _ _
[F] _ _ F, _ _ _ _
[C] _ _ [B] _ [Bb] _ [A] _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ _ _ D7, [G] _ _ G7, _ _ _ _
[C] _ [F] 7, _ [C] _ yeah. _
_ _ [F] _ _ [C] _ _ _ _
[F] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [F] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [C] _ _ [B] _ [Bb] _
[A] _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _ [Em] _ [Bb] _
[A] _ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _ _ [Bb] _
[A] _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _ [F] _ [G] _
_ _ [C] _ _ _ _ Okay, so on the last, [D] let's [G] just take a little bit of a closer look at the last section,
yeah, because that's the kind of bit that's slightly different from the rest of the song
because it just repeats that drop from the C to the A.
_ Okay, so you'll notice in the
last two [Ab] vocal passages, _ it's quick change [C] from the C [F] to the F [C] at the beginning.
Yeah,
so [F] it's _ [C] _ _ _ _ _
_ [F] _ _ [C] _ that kind of idea.
[F] Then to the F, _ _ _ _ _
_ [E] _ _ E major, _ _ E7, _ _ and then this is the figure that
it repeats.
[F] So it's F, _ _ _ _ _ _ C, [C] _ _
_ [B] _ _ [Bb] _ [A] _ _ _ _
_ _ [D] D7, _ _ [G] _
G7, _ _ _ [C] _ C, [B] _
[Bb] _ _ [A] _ drop into the A7, _ [Am] G7, _ _ [G] _ _
G7, _ _ [C] C, _ [B] _ [Bb] _
[A] _ _ _ yeah.
_ [G] And then the
last time [D] around, it's D7, _ _ _
[G] _ _ G7, _ _ [C] C, _ [F] _ [C] F, [G] C, [C] G, C.
_ _ Yeah, so it played a little bit quicker
[D] at the end, you've got.
_ _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ [C] _ _ [F] _ _ [C] _ [G] _
[C] _ _ _ _ Yeah, one more time with that.
[D] _ Just the last kind of line of it.
_ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [C] _
_ [F] _ _ [G] _ _ [C] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [N] And that pretty much covers it, okay?
I'll put the chords, as I say, in the link so you
can check those out.
Have fun with this one because it is quite a nice tune.
Once you've
got the passages in your mind, how they go and things, it's quite a nice tune to play.
So good luck, I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for watching. _
