[Gm]
Hi, my name is Sarah Morgan and I play the Appalachian Mountain [D] dulcimer.
And I'll play [N] a few tunes for you today to show you a variety of what the dulcimer can do.
We can do more traditional bluegrassy stuff like [D] walking in the parlor.
[G]
Well, when I first started playing the dulcimer, I [N] started on an instrument that my grandfather built from a kit.
And he didn't know who he was doing, so he built it backwards.
And it was a really difficult instrument to learn how to play, especially for a beginner.
And so I really wasn't progressing at first, and it was real difficult for me and frustrating as an 8-year-old.
But through my parents' encouragement and sometimes forcing, they really encouraged me to play more.
And they found June Goforth, who is a pioneer dulcimer teacher for the Knoxville area dulcimer club.
And she started teaching me when I was about 9 or 10.
And she really got me to love the instrument bit by bit.
And so now I just love it.
[D]
My favorite piece to do on the [G] dulcimer is Time to Say Goodbye, which is a [E] piece by Andre Buccelli and [D] Sarah Brightman.
