It's a sad, sad story.

[D] Our drummer, Mark Pickerel,
decided that [Bb] he'd had enough.
He decided to get out while he could.
Well, to get in was good.

Then [F] I took off and played for a little while.
Came back.
_ _ And, [Ab] uh_
We all got [G] together and decided to make a TV show. _
_ [Gb] _ _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _
_ _ _ [Bbm] _ _ [Gbm] Rodeo Grounds in [Gb] Ellisburg.
In your hometown?
Yeah.

I haven't seen it.
Did you?
No, I haven't seen it.
_ [Bb] Did you make a [G] decision not to see it?
No, I just_
We've been really busy.
We went to the premiere of it in New York or something.
[Ab] _ But we've been doing other stuff.
So, haven't had a chance.
Plus, [N] back home, I only go to the $2 theater.
_ So_
It's just too dang [Bb] expensive.

Were the Valvades a big influence for you?
Perhaps not the most obvious listening to the new album, Sweet Oblivion.
It's probably the one band that [Bb] we all _ liked.
_ _ [D] But [Bb] maybe not so much of an influence.
_ _ _ _ A band that we enjoyed.
_ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _ [Bb] _ _
Pretty much anything.

It's probably one [G] of them.

Where did you guys actually meet?
_ We met in actually a high school_
[D] First, we met in study hall class.
[Gm] That was the first time I saw Mark.
He walked into my study hall.
He saw me before once, much earlier.
But_
Study hall, and then we_
We both just happened to skip the first day of school one day.
And _ we both got stuck sitting at the teacher's desk.
Because we missed the first [N] day.
And that was how we met.
And we spent the rest of the school year trying to acquire pens and paper from the rest of [Bb] the students. _
_ So_
[Gm] It was a good time. _ _
[Ab] How did your brother get [Bb] involved in the band?
Was that after you two started working together?
[Abm] His mom forced us to have a [G] brother in the band.
Yeah.
We had our first practice.
It was Mark and I and Mark Pickerel, our drummer.
[E] And_
We didn't have a bass player, but we just figured, oh well.
We don't need a [Bb] bass player.
We'll just be_
Because we would end up being like beat happening or something like that.
_ [C] But_
Mark Pickerel is no [A] longer the drummer in Screaming Trees, right?
Right.
He [Ab] left right after Uncle Ashton.
[F] And your new guy is?
Barrett Martin.
Former Skinyard drummer. _
And_
He seems to be working out just fine.
Okay.
Well, [Eb] you guys are working hard.
[F] You're on tour right now.
And [G] you're heading out with Alice in Chains a little later on this year?
In about a month, I think.
