Start Jamming...
I guess all of [E] us have now to Seattle.
So you're in Seattle based now?
Pretty much, yeah.
I mean, we were scattered about [Bbm] the area.
[E] What are the
How old are you in [Eb] Seattle?
[D] [N]
Four?
We're around 84, [Bb] 85.
We're broken down old.
[Ab] So, in fact, if you need [A] him to sign off,
you [Bbm]
[Eb] [Gm]
[Gb] might need to [G] label BN for Nirvana.
[Ab] [G] BN.
BN.
About a year BN, I [Eb] think.
About a year BN.
You guys nearly broke [Gb] up.
Just [Eb] [Bb] give me a few minutes to talk about that.
It's a sad, sad story.
It's, uh
[D] Our drummer, Mark Pickerel,
decided that [Bb] he'd had enough.
He decided to get out while he could.
Well, to get in was good.
And, uh
Then [F] I took off and played for a little while.
Came back.
And, [Ab] uh
We all got [G] together and decided to make a TV show.
[Gb] [Eb]
[Bbm] [Gbm] Rodeo Grounds in [Gb] Ellisburg.
In your hometown?
Yeah.
[Bb]
[E]
[Eb]
[F] Seen the movie?
I haven't seen it.
Did you?
No, I haven't seen it.
[Bb] Did you make a [G] decision not to see it?
No, I just
We've been really busy.
We went to the premiere of it in New York or something.
[Ab] But we've been doing other stuff.
So, haven't had a chance.
Plus, [N] back home, I only go to the $2 theater.
So
It's just too dang [Bb] expensive.
All right, Screamin' [F] Trees are here.
We'll be checking out [E] the [Eb] song on the compilation [D] album.
Were the Valvades a big influence for you?
Perhaps not the most obvious listening to the new album, Sweet Oblivion.
It's probably the one band that [Bb] we all liked.
[D] But [Bb] maybe not so much of an influence.
A band that we enjoyed.
[Eb] [Bb]
Pretty much anything.
You know?
[Ab]
Any [F] music that's recorded [Bb] that we can get.
Anything.
I [Gb] mean
Name it.
It's probably one [G] of them.
Yeah, go ahead.
Name something.
Try it.
Lulu.
Yeah.
And I loved her in To Serve With Love.
To [Bb] Serve With Love?
Where did you guys actually meet?
We met in actually a high school
[D] First, we met in study hall class.
[Gm] That was the first time I saw Mark.
He walked into my study hall.
He saw me before once, much earlier.
But
Study hall, and then we
We both just happened to skip the first day of school one day.
And we both got stuck sitting at the teacher's desk.
Because we missed the first [N] day.
And that was how we met.
And we spent the rest of the school year trying to acquire pens and paper from the rest of [Bb] the students.
So
[Gm] It was a good time.
[Ab] How did your brother get [Bb] involved in the band?
Was that after you two started working together?
[Abm] His mom forced us to have a [G] brother in the band.
Yeah.
We had our first practice.
It was Mark and I and Mark Pickerel, our drummer.
[E] And
We didn't have a bass player, but we just figured, oh well.
We don't need a [Bb] bass player.
We'll just be
Because we would end up being like beat happening or something like that.
[C] But
Mark Pickerel is no [A] longer the drummer in Screaming Trees, right?
Right.
He [Ab] left right after Uncle Ashton.
[F] And your new guy is?
Barrett Martin.
Former Skinyard drummer.
And
He seems to be working out just fine.
Okay.
Well, [Eb] you guys are working hard.
[F] You're on tour right now.
And [G] you're heading out with Alice in Chains a little later on this year?
In about a month, I think.
About a month.
[Gb] Okay.
Well, good [E] luck with that.
Thanks very much for coming by.
Thank [F] you.
Thanks for having us.
[E] And we're going to take a look at a video from [Gb] the last Screaming Trees album, Uncle [Cm] Ashton.
