[A] [B] Today we're gonna be learning
Senorita did I say that right?
As many of you know for my [Ab] despacito tutorial I took German in school.
So Spanish not my strong suit
So I'm trying this is an amazing song by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello
I just feel like these two are a dynamic duo and they just really need to do like an entire album together
So first off we are in standard tuning and there is no capo anywhere to be seen on my fretboard obviously
So we are not using one today.
We're just gonna go ahead and dive into a close-up for our five chords
All right.
So starting off here.
Our first chord up is an a [Am] minor
Our second [E] chord all you have to do is just kind of change the [N] shape around a little bit
We're gonna go into a C major 7
So just go ahead and add on your ring finger to the third fret fifth string and then just remove your first finger
And that is your C major [C] 7
[Em] From here.
[Ab] We're gonna go into an F major 7
So go ahead and add back on that index finger on the second string in the first fret
And then we're just gonna go ahead and [F] move down
These two fingers one string each and we're gonna strum down from the fourth string and this is going to be our F major 7
From [E]
here.
We're gonna move into an E minor [Em] and [G] our final chord is a G major
[N] So listening to the song you can hear that there's a picking pattern going on in there
And I actually watched the video just to see if Sean happened to be playing guitar in it
So what I noticed that he [Bb] was doing was using his thumb to pick the root note of each chord [A] the bass note
And then after that he would come back with a slap [Bb] mute.
So basically what we're doing for each chord is this it's really simple
We're gonna go ahead and just start with our a minor and you're gonna go ahead and use your thumb to pick the bass note
the root note [A] of the chord
Here on the fifth string.
So just use your thumb
Get a nice little pluck
[Abm] We're gonna just go ahead and just come back and do a slap mute
So that way we kill the string, but we're also just creating like a percussive effect.
[A] So
That's gonna be our beat.
So we have
[N] Then we're gonna go ahead and use our thumb to strum [Am] down on the rest of the [A] strings so we have
[Am] bass
bass
bass
[E] Now after that down strum, we're gonna strum back [Bb] up and then we're gonna slap mute one more time
So [A] it's gonna sound like this.
[Am]
I'll go a little bit slower bass
Down
[Bb] Now you probably noticed that I am primarily [Em] using my thumb to do all the picking here [Bm] that just personally works for [Bb] me
Some people might say that my technique is wrong
But there are rules that are meant to be broken in guitar and it's not like an [Am] intricate pattern where you need to like
You know, like use all your [Ab] fingers and stuff like that.
This is kind of [B] like a strum
Pattern, but we're not [A] using a pick.
You definitely want to use your thumb when you're picking out that root note there
So you for sure should be using it for that
But if you [Gb] want to when you strum [Am] back up if you want to use any of your fingers
[Bb] You can if that feels more comfortable to you to me.
I have a long thumb.
So it just kind of [A] works well for me
[Am] [Em]
[Eb] So that is gonna be our complete picking pattern for this song.
You might be questioning
All right, Gigi, [N] where do I figure out which bass note?
I'm supposed to pick a root note on each chord
Basically the rule of thumb the rule of thumb that you should be going for is when I showed you guys how to break down
The chords you really just want to find
The string that you normally start strumming down from that one.
That is [A] your string
So for a minor it's gonna be your fifth string for C major 7 [C] also
Fifth string when you go down to the F major 7, [F] it'll be the fourth string
[Em] a minor
[B] sixth string G [G] major also
Sixth string [Bb] so altogether our pattern is going to look and sound like [Am] this
[C] [F]
[E] [G] So [B] that's it that is your entire song
I'm gonna go ahead and [Bb] give you guys just a little bit of a playthrough with the lyrics the lyrics that I do now
Of which is [B] the intro fourth.
So go ahead and start there and we'll see where I end up
[Am] Me
[C]
[F] [Em]
[G] [Am] [C]
[F] [E]
[G] [Am] So [Bb] that is how you play
Senorita by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.
I'm having so much fun saying senorita [N] by the way
It's really it's a lot of fun to say
Let me know if you guys have any other song suggestions
Feel free to leave those down below in the comment section and if you're gonna just learning this song [Eb] from my tutorial
