Of course, the Everly Brothers are at [C#] the very top of our list of people that we think
[Gm] just really wrote the book on great sibling harmony.
And so much of their music has really, really [G] influenced us over the [N] years.
And we had this dream come true happen.
This is another thing that you can congratulate us for after I tell the story.
But we [Bm] had this really bucket list moment a few years ago because, you know, as an artist
you dream [D#] of getting to meet your heroes and to thank [B] them personally for inspiring you.
And so we had the privilege of [A#] performing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in [D] Cleveland
a couple years ago [G] in a big ceremony honoring the Everly Brothers.
And this was a huge deal, not only because we were getting to finally [D] say thank you
in a very public way for their music, but because Don Everly, the last [G] surviving Everly Brother
was actually in the crowd watching all of these incredible artists, Milou Harris and Vince Gill
and all these magical people pay tribute to the songs that he and Phil made famous
when they were younger.
And [D#] it was a really magical evening.
I don't know how we got through it without passing out because we were so [G] nervous.
[B] And I don't know why they invited us.
I'm really thankful that they did, [G] I think, because we performed our two [B] songs, you know, got through it.
And then at the end, everybody got up on stage to do this big finale song.
And so [G] we're all up on stage together and we're singing,
Bye-bye, bye-bye!
And out in front of the corner, over by the curtain, walks Don Everly to the microphone
two feet in front of me and Lee.
And we knew that he was there.
We did not know that he was [F] going to walk up and start singing [B] this incredible song
that he and his brother made famous.
And so [G] I didn't prepare myself for this [N] illustrious moment
because as soon as he opened his precious mouth, I started to ugly cry.
And I just want you to take a moment and think about what you look like when you ugly cry.
And how many people you would willingly allow to see you when you ugly cry.
And then I want to tell you that when I ugly cry, my eyes get very, very,
I can't explain it, but I will.
They get very small and my face gets like round and [B] wet and red and swollen.
[N] And this whole moment was filmed and photographed and archived.
I'm pretty sure they streamed it on the internet.
And to this very day, this very day, there is a very glorious photo of the moment on the internet.
You can find it if you did a deep Google search.
And there's Don Everly looking great for his age, sounding great for his age.
And there's me looking like I've just been born.
My friend.
My friend.
And so it was the best of my life and the worst of my life.
And so now that you have this miracle image in your head,
I want you to think about that as we sing this very romantic [D] song
that coincidentally [A] Lydia walked down the aisle [N] to.
You just changed the whole mental image for me.
Instead of thinking about your beloved husband, you're thinking about
[F]
My crowning moment.
I told [C] you I would be wearing a rare form.
Let's [G#] get close.
[Dm] God [D]
[N] [D]
bless [A] the day I found [B] you
[Bm] I want [F#m] to stay around [G] you
And [D] so I beg you
[E] [A] Let it [D] be me
Don't take [A] it heavy from [B] me
[Bm] If you [F#m] must cling to [G] someone
[D] Now and forever
[E] Let [D] [A] it [D] be [G] me
Reach up [F#m] [C#] [G] [Bm]
[D] [G] with [D] all
[B] [E] What [F#] would life be
[D] Some ever [A] gave me
[B] [Bm] Tell me [F#m] you love me [G] only
And [D] that you'll always
[E] [A] Let it [D] be [G] me
Reach [F#m] up [G] [Bm]
[D] [G] with all
[D]
[E] [F#]
[D] Some [A] ever [B] gave
[Bm] Tell me [F#m] you love me [G] only
And that [D] you'll always
[E] [A] Let it [D] be me
